Thanks to Gordon C. Helsel for writing this uplifting book.
It is so many things, I almost don't know where to begin. It's a love story, history and a tribute to God, family, friends and everyone who serves our country.
All Americans should read The Day God Showed Up - and it's a quick leisurely read that I couldn't put down.
Gordon Helsel was awarded 2 Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star, but he wrote: "It took Vietnam to make me see I had a duty to those who are less fortunate than me. I went to Vietnam a 19-year-old kid and returned a man with a purpose."
It's an American classic. I hope that teachers will make it required reading, families will get it for their loved ones in the military and patriots will share it far and wide.
