    Hmm

Too offensive. It could be edited down, that's for sure.

    Enjoyable

I enjoyed the lack of religious spin. A nice quick read.

    Fair

At times made me think of beetlejuice. It was short and silly and unbelievable even for a ghost story.

    Originality? Who needs it.

While not the most original book I have ever read, full of cliches which almost seem intentional, the book was yet paradoxicaly refreshing. The author took the ancient and weathered film noir/Bogart style and mixed it with a atandard spooker and a soul saving "we've got to save George Bailey" get to heaven movie. The mixture reminds me of the Neil Simon classic play/movie from way back called "The Cheap Detective" which took place on an American waterfront and Casablanca at the same time. So l see this book as a very successful spoof and a nice ghost story in one. I hope Richard Steele will be reincarnated in some form in a later, longer book. I look forward to reading other books by this author.
