Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Laura Backman
Thirteen-year-old Mark Dannon purchases a pack of Epic Heroes trading cards on his way home from school and discovers an ultra-rare card called the DeathBringer. He is eager to put it into play during the fantasy card games with his friends but whenever he does, bad things happen to his opponents when the game ends. He tries to convince his best friend of the card's curse but at first his friend does not believe him. He changes his mind only after summoning one of the cards' characters to life. Mark and his best friend are put in danger and have to find a way to stop the DeathBringer before he is permanently released and takes over the world. This title, part of a twelve-book horror series, is sure to be a winner with reluctant readers. It has thrills and chills in just the right places, and the spooky storyline ends in a cliffhanger, enticing the reader to want more. Reviewer: Laura Backman
