Thirteen-year-old Mark Dannon purchases a pack of Epic Heroes trading cards on his way home from school and discovers an ultra-rare card called the DeathBringer. He is eager to put it into play during the fantasy card games with his friends but whenever he does, bad things happen to his opponents when the game ends. He tries to convince his best friend of the card's curse but at first his friend does not believe him. He changes his mind only after summoning one of the cards' characters to life. Mark and his best friend are put in danger and have to find a way to stop the DeathBringer before he is permanently released and takes over the world. This title, part of a twelve-book horror series, is sure to be a winner with reluctant readers. Bradford Kendall has enjoyed drawing for as long as he can remember. As a boy, he loved to read comic books and watch old monster movies. He graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in Illustration. He has owned his own commercial art business since 1983. Bradford lives in Providence, Rhode Island with his wife, Leigh, and their two children, Lily and Stephen.
Nelson Evergreen lives on the south coast of the United Kingdom with his partner and their imaginary cat. Evergreen is a comic artist, illustrator, and general all-round doodler of whatever nonsense pops into his head. He contributes regularly to the British underground comics scene, and is currently writing and illustrating a number of graphic novel and picture book hybrids for older children.
