May have saved my life ....

This book in my opinion should be the cornerstone that every mental health clinic is built upon and every psyc. college graduate should have to learn it verbatim. Why? It has more tools, more information, teaches more skills, gave me options when I was thinking in unbeneficial ways. The mental health clinic gave very little or none of this information, and after a year of mental health clinic treatment, I improved very little. With the book: The Depression Workbook: A Guide for Living with Depression and Manic Depression, I was able to self advocate, and make more progress in a month then on thee year with the clinic. I just picked up her new revised 2nd edition and it has lots of great new information. Good luck, God speed, and many blessings to you and your healing.

    Good Medical Standpoint

I found this book to be very informing of the medical aspects of depression. It gave a very detailed description of all the aspects surrounding depression. However, I thought that it was too informant with medical facts and not helpful with the personal side. It was centered around how she worked through things. The description of the book sounds like it is a book to help guide you through your depression. I understood it to be a self-help book. It is that, however, very general. It is a decent book to read for general help but very helpful with the medical aspect.

Would recommend, w/just a grain of salt

Some of the advice was just a bit flaky, but overall the workbook helped me. In fact, I bought it just a few days b4 9/11. Some of the viewpoints, and tips I've never heard anywhere else.

WOW! Better than 10 years therapy

WOW! After spending a number of years in therapy, I must say that I have found this book to be profoundly more helpful than any of the therapy. I truly wished every therapist, especially the HMO therapist that I have had to deal with, had a copy and practiced the formulas in this book. Highly recommended! Read this book and give a copy to you therapist and Physician for them to actually read and use.
