Overview

King Artair O’Hara of Talamaraon and the commander of the army, First Captain Cygnus Deverell, are searching for a powerful lost scroll that could reunite those left in the world with Descendant blood. Davin of Lemirre, a seventeen year old who isolates him from most his community, finds out he is Descendant of this same supposedly extinct race of beings about the same time as the other Descendant escapes the clutches the kingdom’s army.

Davin must learn Driocht, a magic that merges dark matter and Ancients great intelligence to harness elemental powers, and set off with the others on a quest to find the scroll that has been scattered. Davin will discover that he was not actually forced into this quest, and it is not a great destiny that led him down this path, but his own choice.

It may not be enough to simply surpass these obstacles, however, because the Descendants’ opponents have somehow found a way to give the Ancients’ power to normal men. Davin helps drive a small group of reluctant and frightened people to rise against his evil and the confrontation occurs on King’s doorstep, proving that there is only so far people can be pushed before they will finally take action.

In the end, the mastermind behind all the conflict will surprise and horrify as his true identity is revealed.

Meet the Author

I always enjoyed creative writing even as a kid. I remember I always wrote more than was required for Writers Workshop in elementary school. I should have known I would grow up to be a writer. I spent my late teens/early twenties writing music and playing in rock bands. Going to work for Borders helped me decide I wanted to return to creating stories. I started plotting an epic fantasy series, having no idea if I’d actually finish even the first book. It didn’t hurt my motivation that I worked in a book store with plenty of inspiration and helped start a writing group. These two things are what helped me stick to it, and now I wouldn’t have it any other way. The rest is, as they say, history. I have a BA in English and Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University and currently live in a Rocklin, CA, a suburb of Sacramento.
