I was surprised how many errors were in this book. I think HarperCollins usually does a nice job but there were silly editing errors in this. "Here" instead of "hear" or an accidental "his" instead of "he". It was just stuff that made me pause in my reading. And at the end there were some strange editing comment that seemed to have been jotted down by the author and weren't removed. Overall, I thought the storyline was cute. I would have enjoyed it a lot if the editing was improved.

*I felt the author could have easily made this a complete novel instead of a novella... enjoyable series

It was all right. I didn't feel any real connection with any of the characters though. Where it could have been a more memorable story, it felt kind of rushed towards the end. This was just an all right book.

The story line was good and the characters were also good. Some errors in the grammar were noticeable.

The Desperate Love of a Lord is a novella that accompanies the Marlow Intrigues by Jane Lark. I love this series. It's a definite favorite of mine, however this time the story felt very rushed. I felt like I didn't really get to know Violet or Geoffrey as much as I could have. There was a little bit of a role reversal. Violet was the promiscuous "scoundrel" in this case, and Geoffrey seemed more the monogamous fellow, which I really liked. That was fun and different, and it was interesting to watch them find each other again.

I agree with the other reviewer about the book being shallow. Because it's a novella; I decided to read it anyway. Needless to say I found myself skimming the pages. The book also needs some editing.
