Overview

When you put Hollywood and the horror genre together you come up with some pretty crazy, gruesome, and sometimes silly concepts. The goal is to scare, shock, and surprise, even when the subject matter is based on a true story, so it is not a far leap to say that in most cases Hollywood wildly exaggerates the truth to get the most bang for their buck. This is not the case in terms of exorcisms.
In 1973 the world was subjected to the nightmare inducing film “The Exorcist” which exposed us to a young girl whose foul mouth alone was enough to make us gasp. Add to that a little head spinning, levitating, and projectile vomiting that has become known as the pea soup scene, and you a smash hit that perked the interest in exorcisms across the globe.
Read about two of America's strangest exorcisms inside, as well the most common demons to blame, and an exorcism prayer.
