Overview

What happens when a struggling actress and a grieving widower come together in a night of unbridled debauchery orchestrated by a bored and machinating rake?

In A Wild Night's Bride, Phoebe Scott, alias Kitty Willis, is a lonely lady, down on her luck.

Sir Edward Chambers is steadfast, respectable, and avowed to a life of celibacy.

Devil in disguise, Viscount Ludovic DeVere, is the machinating rake hell-bent to return his best friend, Ned, to the land of the living. But with the devil in charge...there will surely be hell to pay.

In The Virgin Huntress, desperate times call for devilish measures...

The coddled and pampered Lady Vesta Chambers is accustomed to getting what she wants, but what's a girl to do when the man of her dreams has eyes for another?

Younger brother to Viscount Ludovic "The Devil" DeVere, Hew has returned from the American war scarred, disillusioned, and looking forward to settling down with the right woman. When Hew shows interest in Vesta's godmother, Diana, Vesta vows to prove to Hew that she is no longer a little girl, but a woman with the passion of...a huntress.

WARNING: So your home or renter's insurance is not REVOKED, all readers must have proof of purchase for at least 2 FIRE EXTINGUISHERS before opening the book! The Devil DeVere's series is full of passions, aphrodisiacs, sexual sacrifices, very inventive and slightly sleazy positions all with help from French literature and the raunchy Viscount! Sir Edward Chamber, Ned to his friends, is a man who sowed his wild oats, fell in love with his young wife, Annabel, and never looked back. She die after the birth of their only child, Vesta. Now he lives a boring and sexless life at his country estate and focuses on his daughter with the help of his wife's sister, Diana, who is also a widow. When Diana decides Vesta must have her Season, Edward goes to London to rent a proper house for them. While he is there, he hooks up with is old and debauched friend, Viscount Ludovic DeVere aka Devil DeVere, and the Devil declares he is stodgy, humdrum and has let the country shriveled up his manhood. Before Ned knows it, he is sucked into the Devil's den of iniquity of tawdry women, meaningless and nameless sex. Miss Phoebe Scott is a 21 year old woman who struggles to survive daily, after she is used and dismissed from her royal job, due to an ungratifying tryst with Naughty Prince George. Phoebe does any job available at the Covent Garden Theatre and some bit parts. What she really wants is to act on stage, so she knows she will have coal and food. On the last day of the theatre, the two leading actresses don't show up and she is given a chance to dazzle the crowd as "Kitty" and now all the men want her. Her fellow wardrobe mistress helps to hatch a plan for her to enter an exclusive bawdyhouse's party. "Kitty" comes back to snag herself a rich patron and protector and sets her sights on the notorious Devil DeVere. Ned can not believe the Devil has dragged him to this raunchy party, he tries alcohol, dodging wandering hands and blending into the background, but still sticks out. "Kitty" makes it to the party and is appalled at what she witnesses, but to flee the lecherous hands, she gravitates to the only man who is as out of place as her. Now Ned and "Kitty" leave the party for the gardens to get air, but when they begin to talk, Ned and the real Phoebe totally click with one another. Ned wants to consume her and Phoebe wants gobble him up with a spoon. What this couple needs a little help from the man whore and "I will bet on anything" Viscount! Ned and Phoebe enter an world of ridiculous bets, "cream in your jeans" kisses, wardrobe changes, satin sheets, fist fights, a King bedchamber, a busy body housekeeper, a Newgate prison cell and a night of exquisite and earth moving passions. Can Phoebe and Ned love themselves enough to forget what others think and be happy? Who was in prisoned at Newgate? Will Ned have to thank the Devil? Yes, I pulled out my slightly crushed Pompoms and CHEERED the Devil on and on. Ms. Vane's characters don't jump, but SLAM out of the pages and drag you back into the story by your hair, if necessary. To me, Phoebe is the 1783 version of a preacher's daughter and the poor girl got no Princely satisfaction either. Ned did live a sexless life because he felt guilty about his wife's death. Ms. Vane also shows her kooky, devilish and slightly sordid mind by all the madcap situations these two got into. The Viscount is like the deranged Fairy Godfather of this hilarious tale. And the steamy, sexy and fire extinguishers (which are mandatory) worthy scenes were creative and had the best kind of humor! She also sets up a tempting stage for Ned's prudish sister-in-law, Diana, and the Devil for the next Devil's DeVere series' book. These two have a mysterious past and I can't wait to read it, too! I have to give Ms. Vane my top score of 5 fingers up and 10 toes and my daughter's, too.
