Award-winning & Amazon Top 10 bestselling author Laurin Wittig's debut novel:

In the dark of night, Elena of Lamont must flee her home after her father's death to escape the brutal clansman determined to satisfy his lust for power -- and for her. But as the captivating beauty runs from one dangerous man she finds herself landing in the arms of another, one whose passionate embrace offers perils of its own...

As the chief of the Lachlan clan, Symon MacLachlan vows to protect the fiery-haired lass whose gentle touch relieves the demons clawing at his soul. Despite her fierce denials, he is certain Elena is the legendary Lamont healer -- and certain that he must have her for his own. Desperate for her soothing caress -- and unable to quell the desire burning inside him -- Symon is compelled to lure Elena into marriage. But will he be able to win the love of the tender enchantress who has stolen his heart?

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com - Harriet Klausner
This is an exciting Medieval Scottish romance starring two interesting characters whose need for one another goes against the respective traditions of their clans. The engaging story line is at its best when Symon and Elena squabble while she tries to hold back her healing hands that soothe his mental anguish even as that same touch leave both in deep desire for one another...sub-genre fans will relish this delightful historical tale.

Meet the Author

I was indoctrinated into my Scottish heritage at birth when my parents chose my oddly spelled first name from a plethora of Scottish family names. At ten, my grandparents took me to my first American Clan Gregor Society gathering, where I attended my first ceilidh (kay-lee), a Scottish party, and danced to the bagpipes with the hereditary chieftain of the clan. At eleven, my mother took me to Scotland for the first time and it has lived vividly in my imagination ever since.

I hope you'll join me in my forays into Scotland's wonderful medieval Highlands. In addition to The Devil of Kilmartin, my National Readers' Choice Award winning debut novel, please look for my Legacy of MacLeod series - Charming the Shrew and Daring the Highlander - out now. My newest trilogy starts in 2013 with the release of Highlander Betrayed on August 6th, followed by Highlander Avenged and Highlander Redeemed.

I'm a recent empty-nester and now share my home in southeastern Virginia with my husband (who refuses, under any circumstances, to ever wear a kilt), and our Eskie, Anna.

    Pretty Good..........................

Though sometime our heroine seemed a bit of a dim light bulb. And I have to wonder how a man would not recognize someone he knew well and hadn't seen in ten years. Poor eyesight? I won't say anymore I don't want to put spoilers in. It had it's moments. But I would not have paid more then $2.99 for it. Too many inconsistencies.

Superb Storytelling Wittig is a superb storyteller and THE DEVI

    Superb Storytelling

Wittig is a superb storyteller and THE DEVIL OF KILMARTIN is one of her most intriguing tales. Her historical romances are anchored by an accurate and insightful recreation of the past.

The heroine of this engaging story is Elena, the chief’s daughter, a healer in the Highlands of medieval Scotland. She can succeed her father as chief of the clan only until she marries and the truculent Dougal wants to make sure she marries him. Elena is determined not to marry and in escaping from the persistent Dougal meets the mad Symon MaLachlan, known as the Devil of Kilmartin. The tormented Symon challenges Elena’s healing powers and her determination not to marry.

A must read for people who love history, romance, and medieval Scotland.
