Excellent escape series. Great quick read.

I have enjoyed reading all books in this series. They are fast paced adventures. Some strong language and adult situations.

    Great Novel

I am reading the books by Sydney Rye. I have enjoyed the little touch of humor and the mystery involved in the books dealing with pets. Great stories.

Mildly interesting. The plot is good, but the story just stops

Mildly interesting. The plot is good, but the story just stops dead in what appears to be the middle of everything. It then picks up with a superficial explanation of why the action stopped dead and moves on to the storyline for the next book.

The 'bad' language used by the main character comes across as contrived and unnecessary. And... the author needs to do some more research on her Dade and Monroe County geography as much of the info is simply incorrect.

All things considered, the book was okay, but I wouldn't buy any more in the series.

    Wonderful book

What a lovely find here amongst the free books. I would definitely purchase more from this author. A relatively fafaast paced, action packed book. You do not need to have read the others to be able to enjoy this one. I started with number 5 and look forward to reading number 6

    Would not recommend

Although this is the 5th in a series by this author, it's not necessary to read the other books - and I am pretty sure I wouldn't want to, anyway. The backstory is given at the beginning. At any rate, this story begins so slowly, and the characters are so unlikeable and 1-dimensional, that I just couldn't get through it. The main character apparently kills a lot of people and has sex a lot, often with co-workers. The first situation she finds herself in is so improbable that I just stopped reading it after that (the scene in the dress shop). The other characters aren't much better - boundary-violating tough guys who, for some reason, the main character lets push her around. As for the dog, the author may have just as well had him talk, since he is a cross between a cozy mystery animal and a regular dog...that at least might have made the book interesting. In short, I didn't like any of the characters and the plot was so mundane and slow-moving that I put it down not too long after beginning to read it. And it will be deleted off my Nook as soon as I finish this review.
