Diabetes runs on both sides of my family and my family members were nervous and scared that they wouldn’t be able to have their favorite foods and would be eating bland, boring food. With this cookbook I proved them wrong! It has great tips for your lifestyle and in the kitchen. I received this book free of charge, but would definitely pay for it.

I'm pleased overall with this recipe book. This is a must-have intro recipe book for anyone, not just diabetics. The two items that bothered me a little in this book was that the author didn't note that many sugar substitutes have potentially harmful side-effects, like Splenda, which could potentially cause cancer. At least in my opinion, any recipe book for diabetics should press for all-organic ingredients too. Since organic foods are not processed, they take longer to digest and are more effective in balancing glucose levels.

Something for everyone. I used this cookbook to sneak in healthier foods for my family. They never
realized the foods I made were not our usual bad-for-us recipes. Cookbook has basic recipes like
beef stroganoff and more advanced ones like clam spaghetti. There is something for everyone
    to enjoy.

There are 150 recipes for the comfort foods that I can actually use. I liked the explanations for the healthy substitutions, and the tips.
In one recipe, I learned how to poach an egg, why you let a burger “rest,” and how to peel tomatoes. The Banana Chocolate-Chip
    Muffins are great!

Enjoy your favorite foods! Love the Monte Cristo sandwich. Was the first recipe I tried and I was
definitely skeptical it would taste good because it was made healthy. I was wrong. It tastes yummy!
Have tried many recipes in the book and every on of them is great. If you are looking for a way to eat

Me being honest this book is informational for great recipes. But for a resource for a diabetic to use strengthen himself because of his condition I say not. Some of these recipes do not stray to far away from standard american concoctions already used in excess. The Desserts chapter I would say was the best, but the constant adaption with cheese in vegetarian meals and side dishes didn't make sense to me. For anyone looking for a recipe cookbook you got it but a diabetic one keep looking.

This book does not deserve the praise given to it. I can't believe some of the reviews of how good this reference book is. Coming from a family where my father is a type 2 diabetic I could not honestly pass this off to him with a smile on my face. Every recipe trys its hand at being so called healthy and it fails, low fat, and sugar alternatives don't make things healthy, period. All in all Shasta Press has disapointed me and I would not recommend this to anyone.

In regards to this being a good recipe book it is spot on but this is in no way a good diabetic cookbook. While there are a few helpful tips in this book , this book is comprised of a large amount of misinforming facts and recipes. Just because you give someone a small amount of unhealthy things doesn't make it less unhealthy. I hope anyone who reads this book will take for face value and not literally until they do more research.

Amazed by the range of recipes included!
This cookbook has it all - breakfast, snacks, family favorites, vegetable sides dishes and desserts. I was  impressed with the range and simple tips and changes to make the recipes more suitable for the diabetic in the family.
It concerned me the mention of aspartame as one of the sugar substitutes and non fat food which I consider not good health options for anyone.
I would recommend this book though, just keep that in mind and make a few changes on those recipes that include those products!

The shock of being told to reduce my sugar intake forced me to make some changes in the kitchen. I didn’t want to have to give up the things I liked, and this book gave me amazing reduced-sugar and low-fat recipes for everyday foods that I have always loved. It has lots of recipes for soups, breakfasts, entertaining, main meals, fancier international entrees and appetizers, vegan meals (for when my daughter visits) and even desserts. I am very excited that this one book has given me so much to experiment with.

I loved this book! Before this book I was very wary about eating diabetic meals throughout the day. I thought it would be bland or bitter, but this book proved me wrong! The recipes in this book really do make you want to eat diabetic food. They give you the food statistics with each different recipe including sugars, carbohydrates and fiber. This really helped me slowly get off regular fast food and on par with healthy foods. I am impressed with how well the recipes are and can't wait to try another.

This book helped me to learn another added benefit for dieters. It's that eating smaller portions throughout the day is proven to keep blood sugar levels steady. That means less cravings,night-time binges and not feeling completely drained while trying to lose or maintain your weight. The book also made me rediscover couscous which was a childhood favorite of mine.

This book offers helpful information about how to eat if you are diabetic, but really the advice is good for anyone.  What I like about this book is that the authors understand challenges diabetics face in maintaining a healthy diet, while also enjoying their food.
The Diabetic Cookbook includes snacks and desserts so diabetics don’t feel deprived when choosing something to eat.  There is even a “healthy” recipe for rich chocolate torte.  Now, that’s good thinking (and eating).

This title captured my attention not because I have diabetes, but because I love to cook for friends and family. Coincidently, numerous of those people I love to cook for is battling diabetes. This book contains some classic and easy to follow recipes. What I love even more about it was that it has recipes for not only main meals but also snacks, desserts, and even vegetarian dishes. So, everyone can be included and no one will have to sit out. I cannot wait to try out these recipes and serve them to my loved ones.

Serve up love with these warm and filling recipes

Even for the non-diabetics like myself, this book delivers. I've adopted a low sugar diet to chase off the likelihood of catching this family disease. The absence of sugar will be far from your mind with these meals that include many 1950's era American standards. I'm talking Tuna Melt, homemade potato chip deliciousness. The entire soup section is packed with protein and mouth watering flavor.

I liked the book because too many times cookbooks give great recipes that are too fancy or too complicated to cook.
Here the authors have wisely focused on comfort food and meals and snacks that don't take much time, effort or money to prepare. It's a super useful book. Thank you
