"The Diary" was written fairly well, but it was very repetitive. The diary-entry style of writing was okay, but it got old fast. Unfortunately, many people were killed off so quickly, that most introductions are post-mortem. I felt no connection to any of the characters, because I was not given the opportunity to care. There was a severe lack of depth (i.e. details and descriptions) to the characters, including the diary writer. The readers did not know anything about the victims. Sadly, we know even less about the shadow creatures. This novella could have been much shorter. It was repetitive. I can rewrite the entire plot in one small paragraph. British college students break into old abandoned school. They have a "mini-rave". They drink, smoke, do drugs and have sex. The main character finds a diary and pen. He decides to records the strange events in the book. The students play with a homemade ouija board and summon deadly shadows. Somebody dies. They hide in a classroom. Somebody dies. They leave a classroom. Somebody dies. They hide in a classroom. Somebody dies. They leave a classroom, etc. Repeat last three sentences until no one is left. The end. What this story needed was less "Scooby Doo" chase scenes and more character development. The overall premise had potential, but it was never actualized. I recommend "The Diary" only if you have a few minutes to waste, don't mind repetition, and want a free read. I will check out some other work by this author, just to see if it gets better. -AvidReader

For a 64 page story it was alright. Not the best, almost did not keep me interested but also not the worst short story i have ever read.

I really liked this short story. It's filled with horror and is most likely for a teen audience.....maybe? I really liked all the adrenaline in it, but just dont read it before you go to bed... O_O

This could have been a good short story if it was thought out a little more. It kept repeating itself and I was having a hard time making it through the mere 60some pages.

Excellent, fast paced, written in diary form, small rave turns into a nighmare.

Loved this short story. Written in form of a journal or diary, we read about the happenings of a group of teens who went to an abandoned school to party and with a makeshift ouiji board brought forth their dire circumstances they find themselves in. It was hard to put down the book to let my dogs out (but I did) then went back to finish the story. It was excellent.

Would have been better if the characters had been expanded upon

this is about a group of people who went to a rave and one of them decided (stupidly) to talk to spirits in a abandoned building and summon something more darker...this is the diary of one of the rave's partiers...very good story telling and it is a short story...enjoy!!!!!

I've always been a bit of a sucker for journal entry style stories regardless of how impractical they would be in real life. This one is decent. Recommended.

I really wanted more.....if this story exists...by whom and how did the diary get recovered? This author needs to write a novel!

It was an ok read. Short story of about 60 pages. Could've done without the swearing, but it kept me in suspense!
