I think this book will be a very great resource for anyone going through or considering a divorce. The book really lays out what the changes and consequences are divorce may include and how to prepare for them. The author mentions a variety of circumstances, so hopefully you can see where you are and what you'll need. This can help save your time, emotions, and resources from going to something unnecessary. I'd recommend this book. It helps you see what you might not have considered.

I wish that I had a copy of this book back when I got divorced. There is so much to take care of during this time.
This well organized book makes sure that you do not forget anything important. There are even indexes at the end of each chapter that link you to additional resources on each specific topic, if you need additional information. No one should even consider getting a divorce without reading this book first.

The DIVORCE SURVIVAL GUIDE breaks down the complexities of divor

The DIVORCE SURVIVAL GUIDE breaks down the complexities of divorce laws and also teaches you how to look out after yourself (and your children if you have them). No matter what kind of divorce you are going through, you will learn which type fits your situation, how to take the steps to secure your financial position, and what decisions you have to make. The second half of the book, dealing mainly with emotional aspects of divorce, is fine but not the strongest resource for people looking for guidance in these areas. A book about people’s experiences of divorce and/or that goes deeper into the grieving process, and especially the help of a therapist, would in my opinion be better options for meeting emotional needs, post-divorce.
Disclaimer: I received this book for free for reviewing purposes.

I purchased this for a family member currently going through a divorce, and am glad I did. This book not only served as a great resource for them, but also gave me a much better understanding of what they were going through. The book is written in a no nonsense manner, and while it doesn’t pull its punches, it provides a clear insight that can be lost during a trying emotional time. It considers every angle of a divorce: financial, emotional, legal, child custody in a easy to navigate, intelligent format.

Where was a book like this 30 years ago when I needed it?  The Divorce Survival Guide by Calistoga Press is one valuable little resource
that  could save you a ton of time and hurt. The table of contents makes it quick and easy to look up a subject you want to know more
about.  The appendix gives you online resources to help you through this important step in life. Some commonsense tips like “don¿t
move out right away, and make copies of important papers” are things we don¿t always think about when emotions run high. The info on
varying state laws is also important because laws vary from state to state. I read this book for free, but I would spend much more to buy
this book today knowing what I know now. Our story ended with divorce and years of healing. Save yourself some grief and get the book
     first.

Anyone in or overcoming a rocky relationship will benefit from reading The Divorce Survival Guide.  The book focuses on financial details and child custody schedules first, defines the different types of divorce and ways to proceed, and gives a short test to see if hiring a divorce attorney is necessary or not.  It then deals with the emotional portion with tips to keep or dissolve mutual friendships, contacting in-laws, and finally moving on with your life.

While unemotional and blunt, this is a needed approach to the ugly process of divorce. It covers how to protect yourself financially, the importance of maintaining a routine if children are involved, and what kind of legal counsel you should hire. This is not a touchy-feely book, if that’s what you’re looking for.

Full disclosure: I received a free copy of this book to review.

This book is a great source for anyone considering divorce or separation. This book covers each aspect of the divorce process and
gives matter of fact advice on each part. This allows the reader to use the book as a resource for making decisions.  It would be
especially helpful for the partner who did not necessarily manage the "business" of being married and running a household.

Note: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book operates under the two premises that: 1) no matter who originally instigated divorce proceedings, both spouses are active participants in the decision to get a divorce, and 2) tackling legal and financial issues in a methodical manner will make dealing with the emotional fallout of the divorce process easier. Worth buying for the guides to financial, legal, and child custody matters, but skip it if you’re looking for help navigating emotional issues related to yourself or your children.

A helpful guide if you are going through, or considering a divorce. The legal, financial and emotional aspects of divorce are thoroughly covered, compete with footnotes, a glossary and listing of Divorce Resources. The easy to digest “Lists of 10” steps throughout the book are a quick way to access information.

*I received this book at no cost for purposes of this review*

“The Divorce Survival Guide" ably clarifies the divorce process. The undoubtedly emotional reader learns to protect his or her interests under the best and worst of circumstances. It pleasantly stresses children’s primary importance and advises on how to guide them through a major life event over which they have no control. Finally, it explains personal emotional recovery, how to handle an ex’s family and joint friends (whether they tend to shy away or remain active in the reader’s life), and even shows a light at the end of such a dark tunnel. Each chapter ends with a list of ten “take-away” points which serves as both summary and quick-reference guide. While some more careful editing would have tightened the book and fixed a few formatting and grammatical errors, this is easily overshadowed by the quality of information and advice the reader takes away.

This is a very good guide to help you through the process of divorce. The author gives you practical tips such as getting your finances in order and gathering all of your important documents and papers...and keeping them away from your spouse. There is also a good overview of the divorce process and lot of links to resources along the way. While much is focused on going through divorce, there is also helpful information about coping with the aftermath.

This book has helpful information and tips for navigating the divorce process. The first part of the book provides information about divorce laws and knowing your rights, which is something you’ll find in other books. What I like about this book is that it also discusses divorce in terms of children and their emotional well-being, in addition to custody and child support. Finally, the last section of the book covers the emotional impact of divorce, which is not something you’ll find in every book on the topic. I thought this section was particularly helpful.

I found this book to be an excellent source of information not just for people approaching or going through a divorce, but for most other situations too. It got me thinking about dating, marriage, and children in ways I had not before. As a single person with no children and having never dated anyone over a year, this book has still helped me tremendously in expanding how I think about assets, romance, responsibility in a household, joint assets, etc. This is a definite must-have for those going through divorce, but also as a form of preventative for those approaching marriage.
