Overview

While Carrie Bradshaw was in Manhattan looking for Sex in the City, the Dixie Virgins looking for love, marriage, and a baby carriage.

Sweet, sassy, and laugh aloud funny, this 7-book series follows seven women from the Deep South who met at a summer camp for girls when they were in pigtails and remained best friends through the years.

Now in their early twenties - some of them in college, some in new jobs - they’ve all set out to snare a man while staying true to the rule Bea made that long-ago summer: If the boys from Camp Geronimo come over, don’t let them near your Virginia.

In book one, Belinda, an old-fashioned girl who never had the advantage of a college education, lands a job as nanny and falls in love with her boss. But getting him to fall in love with her requires a lot of scheming by the Dixie Virgins.

    Great book...starting #2 now

This is a Great book..I read it in one sitting. So fun & sassy & my favorite part is that it doesnt rely on sex scenes to get & keep your attention. It is books like these that can be read by any age, young or old. But there was one thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars. There were a LOT of things that shouldn't have made it past final editing. There were misspelt words, wrong words that were spelled right but were not right for the sentence & some grammatical errors that were not intended as part of her background or way of speaking. I tend to be picky about errors so I tried to ignore them but by the time I finished the book I had found enough of these errors to have annoyed me, which kind of affected my enjoyment of the story. This is the only reason for the 4 stars..I ALMOST gave it 3 stars but that didn't seem fair to the story.
Back to the story, I really like how being a virgin & an independant woman was made to be something to be proud of & that none of the girls believe that before the honeymoon is when you should first let your "virginia" out to play. (Even if in a committed relationship) In today's world it seems like losing your virginity is as common & right as keeping it was back in the day. This story & these girls will hopefully let young girls know you dont have to give it up to get the man you love. As my mom used to tell me, if he loves you, he will wait. She also used to tell me what was said by one of the mothers in this story ," let him chase you till you catch him" & of course " they wont buy the cow if they can get the milk for free" I don't know how old this author is, but I really love how she takes old values & makes them current.
I also really loved "Reeve", I read a lot of books & rarely do I come across a main character who when raising children "on his own" actually makes a point to be as involved in his children's day to day lives as he is. The chocolate kisses on their pillow made me melt, & him doing his best to tuck them in at night when he was in town seems like more than real life men seem to do these days. Those two made up children got super lucky with their made up daddy :-)
This really was a great love story with the right amount of angst, fun, playfulness & love for all the characters. Unlike most romances if you close your eyes & let yourself dream, this story could possibly become real & if you already have your prince charming, you could hope you find friends like these girls are to each other.
I am getting ready to buy the next books in the series but I noticed that all but book 3 are available in the nook store. I will check again. I would have liked to have found all 7 contained in 1 or 2 "boxed sets" in order to save money. This is a series that once you have read the first book you can't not read the rest. ( which is also why I am concerned over not seeing book 3) I hope if I dont find book 3 it will be ok to read them out of order. Some books are ok out of order.
    Ok enough typing...more reading.
If the author reads this review, I am sorry for taking the star away for the editing issues. I was hoping that there would have been an email for you at the end of the book & I would have said something that way but there wasn't one listed. Again, I want to say that the STORY itself was worth AT LEAST 5 stars!

This romantic comedy is Peggy Webb in top form!  Belinda is a hoot, the emails are laugh-out-loud funny and the fresh take on nanny versus boss made spending time with the first Dixie Virgin a pure pleasure. I can't wait to read all seven! Highly recommended.

This book is absolutely fantastic. From reading the first page to the last I could not put this book down. I had to know what Belinda and her best friends were up to! Belinda is a sassy young lady setting out to start life with seven best friends who are always there to support her and her hopes and dreams. She meets her Prince Charming who is broken. Can she fix him? You will have to read this book to find out! I can not wait to read the entire series. Peggy Webb is an amazing author who gives her characters humor, personality and indivuality. This is definitely a must read.

Peggy Webb's humor and wit are off the chart on this one. Just when you think you have Belinda figured out, yep, she's a bit of a scamp.
Then you see a whole different fun side. She is a wonderful blend of childlike qualities, a scamp, too trusting, and when most needed..
a lady. She has a touch of Mrs. Doubtfire in caring for the children. She stays one step ahead with the good, if not mixed, advice from
her very best friends coming to her aid/rescue/mayham. She is a pro at keeping poor Reeve continually confused, amused, guessing,
and entertained. You will all hope you have a little of Belinda in yourself, or if not, maybe she'll rub off just by reading her story. My best
advice on this book is to sit back and be ready to be totally entertained. Can't wait to read the rest of these ladies stories! Peggy Webb,
you have done it again! Thank you. I do believe this is one of my newest favorites!!
