Magiere, Leesil, and elven dog Chap are continuing their quest to find the powerful Orb of Air. But they are not alone. Aging elven assassin Brot’an has forced his company on them while also offering his protection. Chap doesn’t believe his ruse, however.

As they sail, Magiere struggles with her own dark nature, using Leesil’s love as an anchor to keep her grounded. For the personal price she paid to procure the Orb of Fire was more than she thought—and more than she wants to reveal to anyone.

But that is exactly what the cunning Brot’an wants to know. And he is willing to do whatever it takes—even if he must reveal his own dreaded secrets, which may cost the entire party their lives…and their very souls.

I know this can't be the end of this series... it's too unfinished!

I have enjoyed the adventure this series has led me on! The only thing I would suggest is to keep this series numbered. I would like to know where I go from this book. This can't be the end of the series...what of the two other orbs?

I loved the series and its not even done yet!!! As i wait for the newest book i reread some of the other ones.
I can't wait to see how the authors will end this series i really do hope that it will stay as it is now where i can't wait to devour the book.
If this ever is to become a tv series or a movie PLEASE don't let them screw up the plot in some way where something in the book seems
so important. It would be interesting for it to be a series of movies, but the book brings the characters to life so well that doesnt need to be
    anything else

    Highly Recommended

I am loving where this series is headed. I have been readying noble dead for eleven years maybe twelve can't remember when the first book came out. But every year I am so excited for the next journey. This book particularly will have you on your toes. It left me in awe and wonder. Also will have you curious to the point of squealing :) Well it did me anyway. I love how Barb and J.C. tell a story about each Character, they try to add as much detail and background as possible, without leaving you bored. I hope they don't stop short of detail just to get a book done. I dislike when authors do that or begin to do that into a series. It always leaves you disjointed and searching for more. Magerie and Leesihl are in for an epic journey, along with Brotan, Wayfarer. Curious what is going to come of Osha, Wynn, and Chane. Now doubt how shade and Chap will fare. So excited for this book and the one to follow. Definitely should read!

This was much better than the previous book. I was much happier

This was much better than the previous book. I was much happier to be back with Magiere, Leesil, and Chap and their newly acquired companions. We finally get to hear about what happened in the Wastes, the discovery of the second orb, the hiding of both orbs, all while they slowly move onward towards the third orb. (Or fourth I guess since Wynn also found one.) I also enjoyed the additions of Brot’an and Leanalham to this book and we got to hear their stories that brought them to where they currently are as well. The only reason it didn't get five stars was because sometimes it could get very confusing since everything was told through flashbacks and memories of all the characters. So the view point jumped around a lot and could be sometimes hard to follow. While it was maybe not the best format to express a story, the story itself was still really great and I am glad we finally got some answers. The epilogue made it feel like we were going back to Wynn and Co. and I can't really say I am very excited about that, but I will stick with the series regardless because as a whole it's been great.
