A good book to help you train your dog Tricks

I found this to be helpful and informative, but was disappointed that in its, in my view, incomplete training list. Since it said "dog tricks AND Training, I thought it would have more of the basic stuff in it that I needed to help out a friend of mine. I felt there were gaps in certain things to be trained, but other than that, it is excellent on helping to get your dog to do various tricks and fun stuff. If you are looking for a book to help train your dog to do fun stuff and tricks.. this is a GREAT book as it has work cards and a DVD. If you are looking for a book with more of the basic training like downs, stay, and other basics as well as tricks and stuff... I have found that the "Dummy" dog training books are VERY good. You can get a basic, for any dog, training book or specific breed type (I got the Poodle Training for Dummies) which has a lot more info, great for training and also for understanding the 'whys' of your dogs temperament (breed specific in the breed ones) and also if you want to show in AKC obedience or agility, it gives you the specifics of how to train for that as well as just basic training for your own and your dogs benefit.

    Fun and easy to use

I also bought a larger book of 101 tricks, but I really like this set. The workbook has complete step-by-step directions for teaching dozens of tricks ranging from "high five" to "jump through your arms". There is room to write in when you introduced each trick and each time your dog successfully completes it, since repetition helps to reinforce the training. There are tips for troubleshooting trickier aspects and great full-color pictures throughout. One thing I especially liked is that there are cards (about index sized) with instructions for the tricks so you can pull them out and take them with you if you want to train (or be reminded of the steps) while you are out. There is also a CD or DVD with videos of the tricks but I haven't used that yet. If you are looking for a fun activity to do with your dog, try training some of these tricks. It will be good for both of you -- and impress all of your friends!

Love this book! I just got it two days ago and am already using

Love this book! I just got it two days ago and am already using it to the fullest! The training cards that are included are awesome, instructions on the back are clear and you get the results you want. I also love the workbook aspect of this book, it really helps to write down your progress, goals, and expectations. Will be buying more in this series. Great book if you're serious about your trick training.
