    OK

This book isn't bad for a short story of 71 pages. I am glad it was free because I really felt that it lacked something or felt rushed. It was almost like this book was a concept for a longer book and the author wanted to see what people would think.

    !

This is a good short story. Hanging dolls is kind of creapy, but that's why we read this stuff.

Creepy, the kind of book that just makes you feel bad after you've finished reading it.

    The Doll by J.C. Marti

Joyce Parker and her daughter go to The Island of the Dolls in Mexico for a vacation. But what Joyce
finds there is bizarre and creepy. There are hundreds of dolls all rotting and disgusting hanging from
the trees. But Joyce's daughter falls in love with one particular doll, and she decides to let her "pick" it
from the tree. What happens after that seems unreal to Joyce and she finds that Urban Legends may
    not be just that.

I love a great creepy, scary story and The Doll was a great read. My only complaint, it was too short!
For those who love horror/spooky stories this book is for you. I would love to read more by J.C. Martin.

Protagonist-The author does a good job with the protagonist, giving her a logical mind that’s going to be resistant to the paranormal going on around her. She’d a very solid character and acts according to her personality.

Antagonist-A lurking presence. The author does an amazing job of setting this up and building tension with the ominous presence.

Situation—The author either did a really good job researching a religion, or she did a great job inventing a religion. Either way, she introduced a fascinating system of beliefs and mode to transfer them into her character’s lives.

Resolution—Perfect. Without giving up too much, the author gives a chilling ending that fits right into the story.

Overall—Clearly, five stars as it is. The only thing is, there is enough of story here to stretch into a novel and it could have been done without dragging on. A will be reading more by this author.

    Somewhat spooky

It was a fine short story about 70 pages. It had a good set up a decent middle could tweek the ending a bit more to make it flow perfectly, but that is just an opinion. Did enjoy the story. Something to give you a slight spook on a dreary night.
