Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
"What is a cloud?" asks the baby bird. A mother bird and her young hatchling are the cartoon characters that help explain what happens when a drop of water falls from the sky. They follow a drop of water from the clouds down to the earth, into a flowing river, into a reservoir, over a dam, through a water treatment plant, into a water tower, through pipes to a bathtub, down the drain, into the sewers, through more pipes, and back into the sea where it rises up into a cloud again. The text and accompanying illustrations are a very simplified version of the water cycle. The back of the book contains a labeled diagram of the water cycle, a list of fun facts, a short bibliography, a list of Web sites, a small glossary and an index. This book is part of the "First Look: Science Series" from Picture Window Books. 2005, Picture Window Books, Ages 4 to 8.
