THE DUKE'S DESIRE

Simon Hawkins, duke of Trent, is no stranger to scandal. Rumors and innuendo have darkened the House of Trent for decades, and it has fallen to Simon to restore his tattered family name. He lives by a strict code of honor, but when he is called home to investigate his mother's disappearance, the distinguished duke will tangle with temptation. For there waits the only woman he has ever loved-and the last woman he should desire . . .

Sarah Osborne has spent her life dreaming of Simon's touch. But dukes do not long for lady's maids-or so Sarah believes, until a stolen kiss sparks a passion that could be her ultimate undoing. As the couple begins a forbidden romance, a cunning enemy plots to destroy the duke and everything he loves. Now, caught in a blackmailer's web, Simon faces an agonizing choice: sacrifice his family's future or break Sarah's heart.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Whether Haymore’s storytelling will appeal depends upon the importance one attaches to the “historical” part of “historical romance.” Nothing in her ostensibly Regency-set series launch suggests the 19th century beyond the ubiquity of horse-drawn transportation. Certainly the premise—the daughter of a gardener, educated alongside the sons of a duke, becoming the love of the heir—gives no more than nodding acknowledgment to the realities of the era’s social order. Beyond that, the inappropriate amour between Sarah Osborne, head housemaid turned lady’s companion, and Simon Hawkins, Duke of Trent, is a pleasant, predictable bit of romantic fluff. Haymore adds some intrigue with the disappearance of Simon’s mother and the eventual emergence of a blackmailing threat, but these are minor diversions from the main agenda of hot glances, murmurs about what other people might think, and setups for future installments. "Jennifer Haymore strikes a good balance of strength, sensuality, drama and intrigue in her characters...Becky is an independent, fearless woman except when it comes to opening her heart to another man. And Jack, while strong and passionate, shows great sensitivity under his 'rogue' persona. With enduring characters that exhibit strong chemistry, I very much enjoyed Ms. Haymore's unique, engaging style and look forward to reading the other books that are a part of this series."
The Reading Reviewer (www.marygramlich.com) on A SEASON OF SEDUCTION
"Each time Ms. Haymore writes a book in this series I think there is no way to top the one I just finished. I started this latest one and realize she has done just that and has proven to me how fresh this series can remain. The characters of Becky and Jack are so full of life and longing just trying to make the right connection between family, relationship and future happiness while figuring out who to trust with all their secrets. This is a wonderful story and while I recommend reading the 1st two it is not imperative as Jennifer Haymore is a magician at connecting the plot from one book to the next-- but trust me you will have to buy the first two, they are that good."

Meet the Author

As a child, Jennifer Haymore traveled the South Pacific with her family on their homebuilt sailboat. The months spent on the sometimes quiet, sometimes raging seas sparked her love of adventure and grand romance. Since then, she's earned degrees in computer science and education and held various jobs ranging from bookselling to teaching inner-city children to acting, but she's never stopped writing.

You can find Jennifer in Southern California trying to talk her husband into yet another trip to England, helping her three children with homework while brainstorming a new five-minute dinner menu, or crouched in a corner of the local bookstore writing her next novel.

THE DUCHESS HUNT by Jennifer Haymore is another exciting Regency

THE DUCHESS HUNT by Jennifer Haymore is another exciting Regency Historical Romance set in England. Book 1 in “The House of Trent”novel and what a start. I believe this is her best work ever. I devowed this story in one setting as I held my breath for the hero and heroine’s HEA. What a powerful story of Simon Hawkins, the Duke of Trent, his siblings and the lovely Sarah Osborne. Simon despises gossip and scandal,he has had enough of these from his parents lives his entire life. He his a man of honor and integrity. He lives by a strict rule of honor. But when his mother goes missing all bets are off. Sarah was only eight years old when she and her father, the gardener, came to live at Ironwood Park, but she soon become part of the Trent family. While she has spent her entire life dreaming of Simon, she knew it would be a forbidden romance, for she was a lonely lady’s maid and the Duke of Trent would one day marry. Trouble to the House of Trent, brings passion, secrets, blackmail, death, sacrifice and a longing for-filled. Simon and Sarah passions grows, while, the siblings go to the far corners of England, looking for clues to their mother’s disappearance. Simon is caught in a trap, not of his making, but his parents, when he is blackmailed into marrying a deceitful Baron’s daughter, who holds secrets that could destroy his family, or will he sacrifice honor for love? I loved Simon and Sarah’s story,it crosses social barriers, holds love true to the heart, and family closer to heart, regardless of their troubles or true birth. One of Ms. Haymore’s best works so far, and I have read them all. She grabs the reader from the first page to the last page and holds them in awe as the multifaceted plot comes together. A must read for not just historical romance readers, but for mystery readers as well as any reader who enjoys an awesome read! I can hardly wait to see what the House of Trent has in store next. Received for an honest review from the publisher and/or author.

Good read. We knew the ending of course, but the getting there was interesting enough to keep it flowing. There was a little suspense along with the usual romance characteristics intertwined. I'm interested to see what the rest of the series holds.

Historical England Simon Hawkins, Duke of Trent has been doing

    Historical England

Simon Hawkins, Duke of Trent has been doing everything to restore the family name after all the scandals that plagued the family for decades. Then Simon is called home when his mother disappears. As he investigates her disappearance he ends up tangling with temptation. Being close to the only woman he has ever loved makes things difficult especially since she is the last woman he should be desire.

Sarah Osborne has spent her life longing for Simon. Sarah knows that she has no chance as dukes do not long for lady’s maids. That conviction changes after one stolen kiss. Now a passion has been sparked between them that is too strong to deny and could ultimately be her undoing. As a forbidden romance begins between them, someone is out to destroy the duke and everything he loves. Simon is now caught in a blackmailer’s web that could either destroy his family’s future or break Sarah’s heart.

This is another wonderful story that will pull the reader into it and tug on their heartstrings. The characters are very well written and will have everyone rooting for Simon and his family and hoping the bad guys don’t succeed in their plot. The story also has a really well written mystery that will have the reader wondering what will happen next. This is the start of another series that will have readers clamoring for much more and hoping that each character will have their own happy ending. This one is definitely worth reading.

Sarah Osborne has been in love with Simon Hawkins, the duke of T

Sarah Osborne has been in love with Simon Hawkins, the duke of Trent, since she met him. Being the gardener's daughter, Sarah knows that nothing could ever come from it.

A forbidden kiss leaves Simon wanting more, but his strict moral code keeps him from pressing Sarah for more. When the Duchess of Trent goes missing, Sarah is promoted to lady's companion. Simon wants someone to help his sister while they are in London investigating his mother's disappearance.

Simon knows that it is time to get married and produce the needed heir, but he can't stop thinking about Sarah. Unfortunately, he needs the proper bride and soon becomes betrothed.

Between the blackmail, the missing Duchess and all the secrets being kept, will Simon and Sarah find happiness?

I LOVED this book.  Simon tried so hard to keep his family from scandal, but it seemed to just come knocking at his door. I loved that he finally did something for himself and not to save the family name.  I found myself laughing out loud and loving every minute of the love story.  I have definitely fallen in love with the Trent family and can't wait for the remaining stories in the series.  Next in line is Lukas, the family bad boy! I can't wait to see who tames him.
