Quick read...  Ms. Helen Banks dresses herself as her twin brother in order to save his life. The morning of the duel she somehow locks him up because she was afraid if he was the one attending the duel and was killed, she'd end up in a workhouse or on the streets. However, once the cold-hearted and offended Mr. Fairfax realizes the ruse, he proposes the last thing she'd have guessed he would propose… or that she'd accept.  This one had me confused at the beginning. Helen doesn't want her brother dead because she doesn't want to end in a brothel or on the streets selling her body but instead agrees to be Mr. Fairfax’s mistress so he can forgive the debt? Supposedly, no one would know about the agreement but she'd know about it, and once her brother found out then he'd probably ask for another duel, which would probably had the same outcome as her original fear which in turn would make the whole world know about it. The storyline right here feels forced as she wants one thing but her actions say something completely different. Granted, it is explained she’s always been attracted to Fairfax and has curiosity about his rumored libidinous behavior however (and although she’s a bit hesitant) she still accepts the proposal exceedingly willingly.  The plot in itself is good; it’s just that her actions sounded a little contradictory. As the story progresses, we see another side of Fairfax, a warmer and loving side and we come to find out the reasons of his sometimes harsh and rude behavior. Once I got past the beginning, I actually liked the chemistry between the H and h. The romance didn't feel rushed or forced and it even felt tender at times, as if they had been friends for a long time.  I just wish the story would have flowed with more consistency from start to finish.  **I read this story as part of the Captivated by His Kiss box set which was gifted to me by one of the authors in exchange for an honest review**

It's endlessly fascinating! Absolutely a must to read! The Duelist's Seduction really swept me off my feet! Stunning debut for Lauren Smith's new series The Seduction! I'm always pleased to read this author's books and this novella really caught my attention. What a beautiful and romantic cover! Absolutely, a must to read! I could not put it down, had me turning pages until the end. A sexy and passionate love story to devour! I loved her two characters Gareth, a dark and devilish hero and Helen the perfect heroine for him. The story starts as Helen, disguised as a man, faces Gareth in a duel, to save her brother Martin, who had gambled away, their parents's fortune. After his wife and child's death, Gareth had become a wounded man and did not dare to love again. But he, soon discovers the impostor, posing as her brother and offers her a deal that will forever change her life. Helen became fascinated by Gareth. Will he seduce her? Will she accept? Will Helen bring back love in Gareth's life? Hot and sensual chemistry between the two! Ms. Smith's stories are always filled with passion, desire, seduction and temptation! She never disappoints me, her words flow on the pages to keep my interest until the very end. If you are looking a well written novella that sizzle, then this book will be perfect for you! I strongly recommend it.

Helen Banks’ brother Martin is an incorrigible gambler, and he has contracted a debt of such magnitude, that he is challenged to a duel, because he cannot pay. Helen has decided to take his place, she can shoot as well as he can, and besides she can’t see a future for herself, whereas Martin, being a man, has more opportunities. The man she has to face is Gareth Fairfax. Helen is secretly in love with Gareth, but he never noticed the wallflower that she is. During the duel, Helen manages to hit Gareth with a bullet, it only grazes him but he bleeds quite a bit. Then he realises his opponent is a woman, and not her brother. But still, Martin’s debt must be paid back, and when Gareth asks Helen to come home with him, she accepts. She is intrigued by the sexy Gareth, even though it might mean ruination. THE DUELIST’S SEDUCTION is a fascinating story, and even though it’s a novella the character development is extremely thorough. The mood is very sensuous, very sensual, and it is of course, superbly written.

The Rakeshell's Seduction by Lauren Smith is book 2 in her "Seduction" series, but can be read as a stand alone. An exciting Regency Romance. Once again, Smith has brought readers a most enjoyable and mesmerizing story of a dangerous wager, deception, danger, and romance. While, mostly romance there is some awesome suspense, mystery and romanticism. Lady Alexandra Rockford and Ambrose Worthing are captivating and mesmerizing characters. One proud, arrogant and brooding, the other, a fiery, beautiful Lady who has sworn off men. While, a quick read, only 195 pages, Ms. Smith manages to brings readers a story that will keep you captivated. I thoroughly enjoyed "The Rakehell’s Seduction" with engaging and interesting characters. The storyline is captivating and seductive. A must read for fans of Regency Romance, complicated characters and a great, quick read, will enjoy this title. An enjoyable and satisfying Regency Romance read! The Duelists Seduction starts off with a bang and is a quick paced, fun read. Helen wants to save her brother, and Gareth gives her one option to make that happen. We learn more about the two, and why they are the way they are. The title implies there is some seducing happening, and what a beautiful Seduction it is! Gareth is sexy, and Helen is a strong, loyal woman. The two simply melt the pages.

Lauren knocked it out of the park once more with this wonderful novella. **I really enjoyed reading this book. Because it is essentially a short story it is fast paced. The characters are well developed and I fell in love with them almost from the start. This one is not to be missed. I give this one a rating of 4.0 stars. Like all short reads I only wish it could be longer.** Keep up the good work Lauren. I’m looking forward to the next Book of the series. BLURB Helen Banks is going to die. Tantalizing Duel When Helen Banks' twin brother gambles away their fortune, she decides to save his life and take his place in a duel to satisfy the honor of a man her brother couldn’t pay. All it takes is one passionate embrace, a kiss from the depths of his soul and a night of wild abandon. Helen has a huge heart and sacrifices daily for her twin brother Martin. She would do anything for him and does the ultimate sacrifice of going with Gareth to his home unchaperoned. She is the kind of loving woman who could reach the jaded heart of man who has sunk into depression after a tragic loss. I liked Helen and was glad that in the end she realizes that her brother has to be responsible. She wasn't a push over but she did put value in others over herself. Anyone who likes historical romance, will enjoy this novella. Caution: Some steamy love scenes.
