And this new version of "Trouble in the Fields" sounds almost as though it might have been originally written for full orchestra. While most of THE DUST BOWL is broad reinterpretations of Griffith's classics, there are also three songs Griffith hasn't recorded before: Buddy Holly's "Tell Me How"; Frank Christian's swinging "Drops From the Faucet"; and new original, "1937 Pre War Kimball," a gently humorous tribute to her antique piano, featuring guests Glenn D. Hardin and Beth Nielsen Chapman. Nanci Griffith is an artist with a continuing zest for challenge, and on this symphonic adventure, she's still seeing her own creations in new ways.
