All Music Guide - Campbell
Tony Martin was an enormously popular crooner of romantic tunes that were featured in early Hollywood films of the mid-'30s. The Early Years is a budget-priced, 19-track selection recorded for the Brunswick and Vocalion labels between 1936-1938. Among the sentimental and romantic fodder are versions of "Where the Lazy River Goes By" featuring Ray Noble & His Orchestra, "Marching Along With Time" by Mannie Klein & His Swing-A-Hulas, and Martin's first hit in 1938, Irving Berlin's "Now It Can Be Told."
