B) ANGLE--MYRTLE'S RUMP

--

It is a big rump, and it is overflowing the back of the counter like dough which has risen too far above its pan. The rump begins to twitch, moving from side, an unconscious prelude to having a big thought. There is a FLY on her rump.

--

C) ELMER: Delicious mischief--he is getting set to swat the fly.

--

D) ANGLE--RUMP--The movement becomes a quake and the fly takes off.

--

E) FAVORING MYRTLE

--

Elmer disappointed; Myrtle stretches, fanning the air with her elbows--

MYRTLE

I know just what to do.

--

ELMER

Well ... what, Myrtle?

--

Close up--"ice cream", "pie," etc., all quite faded, dusty, and fly-blown.

--

MYRTLE plunks herself down and seizes one of the Easter eggs.

--

MYRTLE

We will put a slip of paper inside the wrapper and it will say, "Return this to Frank's Pharmacy and receive fifteen dollars in cash. Congratulations, and happy Easter!"

* * * *

ELMER rolls his eyes in disapproval.

--

MYRTLE (continuing)

A contest. All we have to do is put up a few notices and it will be all over town that if you buy a chocolate egg you could win fifteen dollars. People will flock in here and we can get rid of the whole lot.

--

ELMER

(sullen)

Fifteen dollars is too much.

--

MYRTLE plucks pen from bosom and finds piece of paper.

--

ELMER It's not really a contest.

--

MYRTLE, lips pursed in thought, not listening.

--

ELMER

It's like, well ... a Crackerjack prize,

Myrtle, not a competition. And besides, it won'twork.

--

MYRTLE

(painstakingly printing on the paper

Present this ... certificate...

--

ELMER

What if someone buys the egg on the very first day?

--

MYRTLE

They won't.

--

ELMER

Why not?

--

MYRTLE

We will put it right out in front, spang in the middle. Everyone will be sure we hid it, so they'll fish around and pick eggs from the back, the top, the bottom, anywhere but what's in front of their noses.

--

ELMER

It will never work!
