This book was authoritative to the point of exhaustive research. It could be dry in spots. A long exposition on a proud people that changed American history in ways we won't ever imagine. Perhaps the most notable character in this whole story is that of a non-Cherokee-- James Mooney-- the amazing ethnographer that nearly singlehandedly preserved the Eastern Band's heritage. Was this review helpful?
