Overview

Most of humanity doesn’t know about the Makif, an enlightened race of beings that for thousands of years have lived quietly alongside humans in a peaceful co-existence. But after corrupt humans enslaved them, the normally peaceful Makif have fallen into political disarray and are at the verge of a civil war.

A schism of radicals led by a Makif named Abbadon have decided that the only way for their race to return to its former glory is for humanity to be destroyed. Abbadon and his followers seek the Well of Souls, the mythical holding place of the souls of humans not yet born, for if they can destroy that, humanity will become extinct.

Iris Reed is a nineteen year old girl, cursed by powers she can't control. It has been prophesied that she will bring peace and balance back to the races and destroy Abbadon, but reincarnated life after life with no knowledge of who she is she has continually failed. Abbadon seeks to control her for his own dark purposes, but he is not the only one with an agenda for Iris. As the people around her vie for her loyalty, she not only struggles to control her developing powers, but also with knowing who to trust.

William Drake, half human, half Makif, the only one of his kind. An immortal and dangerous assassin charged with protecting Iris, he has watched her die a torturous death at the hands of Abbadon every life she's lived. Bound together by forces they cannot control, William and Iris begin the battle for humanity's souls yet again, but this time, they’re playing to win.
