Overview

The German Embassy is the perfect place for the most evil of men to hide.
The man with many names is the perfect hate monger, killer of Jewish activists and the instigator of hate groups to poison society within the United States just before World War II.
After the war, the man with many names asks for and is refused asylum. He is returned to Germany.
The Egan and Dean families have merged now. The young man and the young woman are in a desperate search for her husband, a State Department officer who has gone to German undercover and is to bring out people of intellectual standing who wish to defect before the Russians arrive or the old German government has them "detained."
Angus Dean wants to marry "Junior." She can't because her husband is missing and the very ethics of her life are at stake. She's a lawyer, graduated from the University of Arizona, but the government doesn't find she's more than a clerk for them. Angus is a Deputy U. S. Marshal assigned to Displaced Persons and to find any of the old German enemies who might try to apply for citizenship.
The two go to Germany to find Junior's husband. When they do, they also come across a nemesis who will try to kill one or both of them.
