I brought this for my 2 and 4 year old great nieces. According to their mom they absolutely loved the book and the elf. They gave her a name and their mom would move the elf around after they went to sleep and sometimes during the day so they thought she was reporting back to Santa. They were so into the story that when their uncle touched the doll they had a fit and said he was going to use up all her magic and made him put her back down. They even thought she she showed up at a party they went to because their friend had an elf too and that she had been to their grandmothers house to explain the bag of toys and new clothes their grandma brought for them. They insisted that she was invisible and that you could see her tiny footprints outside in the snow....they were actually from a bird but... We explained her disappearance on Christmas morning by saying Santa picked her up and took her with him after dropping off the presents and that she would probably show up next December.
This was a fun thing for them and us. Hopefully it will be a new tradition for them.

    Highly Recommended

Purchase this for my daughter as she requested a elf on the shelf. She completely loves her elf. Though she can not touch it. The idea of having a elf and the concept of the elf visiting Santa just makes Christmas even more amazing.

This set being the doll and the book is perfect combo. We read the story and then placed the elf in our house. What even more amazing is the opportunity to pass this tradition down to the next generation.

Every Child should have a elf on the shelf. Take out the book to read on Thanksgiving then the next morning welcome the elf back to your home for the holiday.

    Excellent purchase

I bought The Elf on the Shelf for my granddaughter. Every day is a new adventure in finding the elf. It has also helped with my granddaughter's behavior because she knows that Santa is checking in every day.
