Barnes & Noble - Ron Hart
On his third consecutive gem, Eminem taps into his Detroit Rock City roots and unleashes his inner White Panther, delivering his most abrasive collection of songs to date. The Eminem Show, produced largely by Em himself, finds the formerly Shady one letting go of the cartoonish thump he perfected with Dr. Dre in favor of a grittier sound befitting an artist who shares a hometown with Iggy Pop and the MC5. What hasn't changed, however, are his venomous lyrical assaults, and along with his perennial targets his mom and his ex, new casualties include hip-hop producer Jermaine Dupri, 'N Sync's Chris Kirkpatrick, dance music wiz Moby, and Vice President Dick Cheney's wife. And ...

And while fans are accustomed to Mr. Mathers bashing both public and private citizens, mixed in with the latest chapters in his screed is some of the most candidly raw rhetoric of his short but momentous career. Tracks such as "Cleanin' Out My Closet" and the ballad "Hailie's Song," where Em makes a noble yet off-kilter attempt at singing, are examples of the artist's ever-intensifying reality theater, while "White America" and "Till I Collapse" display his newfound mastery of rap-rock fusion. Although they'll probably receive the most hype, "Sing for the Moment," a remake of the Aerosmith lighter anthem "Dream On," and the lead single, "Without Me," pale in comparison to show-stoppers such as the swinging "Square Dance" and "My Dad's Gone Crazy," quite possibly the funniest song in the Em canon. Forget the real Slim Shady -- The Eminem Show presents the real Eminem standing up front-and-center.
New York Times - Neil Strauss
In many ways The Eminem Show doesn't need a review, because the thin-skinned Eminem offers his own running commentary on the album, with lyrics like "my insecurities could eat me alive." ... On the album's first song, "White America," he analyzes the phenomenon that is himself, theorizing that suburban teenagers connected with him because he looked like them, which worried parents.
Rolling Stone
The Eminem Show, which he largely produced himself, is proof of an evolved Eminem. More than ever, he's an artist in control of his skills and his persona, and ready for the controversy that follows him closer than a pack of groupies. As he raps in "Without Me," "The FCC won't let me be and let me be me/ So let me see/ They tried to shut me down on MTV, but it feels so empty without me." Anthony Bozza
MTV News
Many of the tracks on The Eminem Show were primarily self-produced, resulting in an LP that sounds more rock than g-funk. And unlike The Marshall Mathers LP, The Eminem Show finds its star dealing with more reality-based, beleaguering topics, though the three main ladies in his life -- his mother, his ex-wife and his daughter, Hailie -- are once again the centerpieces. The disc's limited edition features a bonus DVD. Shaheem Reid

Look who's back, back again, Shady's back, tell a friend!

This album is awesome. Everyone who doesn't have it yet should go get it now. 'These ideas are nightmares for white parents, whose worst fear is a child with dyed hair and who likes earrings Like whatever they say has no bearing, it's so scary in a house that allows no swearing' That song touched my heart, and unless you're heartless, it'll do the same for you.

    Almost Perfect

Back in the spotlight followed by millions of pissed off parents once again, Eminem brings his usual in your face attitude with some great beats to make some awesome tracks. Some tracks sound the same making the slow songs seem a little repetative but overall I highly recomend it.

What everyone has been waiting for

Its been awhile since we last saw the bleached blond from Detroit but he has returned with a vengence. Along with controversial lines he has again merged Rock and Hip Hop in the song Sing for the moment which was sampled from an Aerosmith classic. A definite buy for every music fanatic.

    Eminem's Back!

Eminem's fifth cd, The Eminem Show is much more jumpy than The Marshall Mathers LP and The Slim Shady LP. It is a very good cd. A must for Eminem fans. He shows that he is still that white boy from Detroit with lyrical talent.

Cleanin Out His Closet.. (and the Charts!!)

Written By X'ian R. Scott
Only once in a blue moon does an artist come along that not only crosses the demographic/race barrier, but breaks it and bridges it at the same time.
Usually these artists will break under the pressure (Michael Jackson) or end up losing there lives (B.I.G., Tupac)to ignorant cowards who wish to turn music (fantasy) into a hellish reality.
However, in the face of adversity, violence, racism, and lawsuits out the you know what, EMINEM stands his ground, casting a pale silhouette in the dimly lit world of the HIP HOP/R&B.
With the release of his 3rd album ''The Eminem Show'' released on Sun. May 26, 2002(almost 2 weeks early due to pirating and bootleggin'') , EMINEM once again went against the grain doing something that is unprecedented in the music industry: Releasing an LP on a day other than the scheduled ''New Music Tuesday'' slated record release date.
Only on the circuit for one day, EMINEM topped the charts reaching #1 in one day, nearly doubling sales of #2 artist P.Diddy (¿We Invented The Remix)!
This incredible/controversial CD, which includes a bonus DVD of live performances in Europe is packed with most of what we've grown to love (and hate), some of what you've never experienced.. and much of what you will enjoy.
Straying away from what critics declared were ''cheap, homophobic lyrics'' and ''lack of subject matter besides boybands'' EMINEM has, in the words of the great RAKIM ''really matured on this album''.
Most of the time, people often compare albums or ask if this current one lives up to the hype of previous ones (Nas..), but with EMINEM's latest release.... its almost like comparing apples and oranges.
Dont get it twisted, there are lots of those classic EMINEM lines, the ones that spark up controversy.
Littered within these emotion ridden and vicious beat driven tracks are references to the terrorist attacks, shots at that lackluster and criminal Bush Administration and battle attacks against other rap ''stars'' (for lack of a better word) such as CANIBUS and self proclaimed ''legendary'' producer/rapper J.D. Jermaine Dupree.
After the ''Curtain Call''(T1)... the next voice u hear is that of EMINEM as he exclaims ''AMERICA.. we love u'' !! in the song properly intitled ''WHITE AMERICA(t2)'' in which Mr. Mathers beigns to express his rage against the governmental, corporate and media machines.
In ''Cleaning Out My Closet''(T4).... an ode to his un-nurturing mother (which will also be featured on his upcoming move ¿8 mile¿ soundtrack), the lyrically tormented youth explains why this song isn¿t about just ¿dissin¿ his mother, and the pain she has caused.
On the Radio friendly ''Without Me''(T10)... shady explains why ''it feels so empty without me''!
On ''Hallie's Song''(T14) a touching song devoted to a daughter that he obviously loves, EMINEM commits himself to singing a song about his beloved child.
That my friends is just a small sample of the 20 (thats right 20 in all 5 skits.. 15 full songs!!) banging and genius-filled tracks u will find on Eminem's newest release: THE EMINEM SHOW!!
Packed with creativity, filled with emotion, laced with vicious beats, and fueled by a soul who has much more to bring to the table than just ''Bling Bling'' and ''how many hoes I¿ve got'' this CD is a must have for any die-hard Eminem fan, music junkie.. or for anyone who loves expressive, creative, music.
Who would've ever thought that a bottle of peroxide and an abusive childhood could spawn a legend?
It is said that neccessity is the mother of invention.. therefore oppression must be the mother of creativity.
Check out this CD!! It will be worth the $14.99 for the price of admission to ¿The Eminem Show¿ trust me!!! X'ian R. Scott....

    highly disapointed...

i don't know if i was just expecting too much, or if it really is as bad as i thought it was. the songs just aren't as good as his first three albums. i have never been disapointed about an eminem album in my life, but i must say, the only good song on this album is without me, and it gets real old, real fast. oh yeah, i guess the part where he kills steve burman is pretty cool too. but the album all-in-all sucks really bad. he attempts to sing, instead of rap in one song, and well, let's just say it sounds HORRIBLE! i would recommend NOT buying this album.

3rd Time For Eminem is still a charm

I have been one of the lucky ones to actually hear the entire album. I have to say, this is something new for eminem. Yes, the style is none other than his, however, the events that have occoured in this artists' life are more evident on this album than any other. I love eminem, and would recommend you check this album out asap! Created in tru eminem fashion, any fan will love this one!!!

Less Controversy, More Depth, Same Skills

Eminem once again brings it with his third mainstream release the Eminem Show. The title proves not to disappoint as Eminem pulls back the curtain on numerous things including his turbulent personal life, his newest ''hit list'', as well as issues facing America today. His lyrical skills are no doubt still among the best and will again have you rewinding just to make sure you heard him right. The tracks ''Dosie Do'' and ''When the Music Stops'' show his uncanny rhyming ability. But the thing I found most compelling about Em's new release is the maturity level. He delves into the problems facing both him and America and makes you think just as much as he makes you laugh this time around. Just listen to tracks like ''White America'', ''Soldier'', and ''Saying Goodbye to Hollywood'' for proof of this. With Dre and Eminem himself behind most of the production, you know the beats are top-notch as well. So, what are you waiting on? Hurry up and hit the stores and if you're fast enough, you'll get a special DVD along wit your purchase(shameless plug) Bottom line, those who are familiar with the quality music Eminem brings will be impressed with the strides he's taken as a person as well as with his lyrical prowess. Cop it.

The best Album to date by Eminem...or anybody!!

Eminem, Slim Shady, or Marshal Mathers, whatever you call him he is one of the greatest artists of all time and only second to Tupac in the rap game. One more album as good as this and he will be the king of hip-hop and of all music. A must have and listen to the words not just the beats.....Eminem is simply THE GR8EST!!

This cd platinum plates Eminems lyrical talent. He finds a very creative way to sugar coat the much covered and controversial ''mistakes'' of our society. It's well worth the money!

The Greatest Rapper of all time!

Eminem has done it again. I own his other albums and have anticipated this one's release, and I have to say I am not disappointed. Eminem to lyrics and rhyming is like Van Halen to the electric guitar.
