Each of the four dimensional dollhouses just begs for readers to peek through windows anddoors or lift away the walls to find hidden details and characters.
Tactile treats are everywhere: journals to open, letters to pull out and read, jewelry boxes to explore, fabric to touch.and much, much more.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Ten toy characters provide the story line and prompt seek-and-find activities in the interactive pages of The Enchanted Dolls' House by Robyn Johnson. Readers open cabinets and hat boxes, and envelopes with private letters; they can also peer inside a 3-D medieval, neoclassical and Victorian dollhouse, each of which kicks off several spreads of information about the era. Children's Literature - Eleanor Heldrich
Coming to us from Australia is this large 10" by 12" book for little girls of all ages with a simulated upholstered cover in maroon flocked in white and a dusty pink backstrip. In the center of the front cover there is a picture of an eighteenth-century dollhouse and there is a tasseled pull to aid in opening the front cover. The book tells the story of a set of dolls and their doll pets and toys moving through the years in a series of dollhouses of different eras and fashion periods. These are the enchanted dolls that live in the enchanted dolls' house, houses actually. The art style is precious and petite. It will take a very special little girl to have the patience, care, and interest to read about all the different periods and their styles, and take the trouble to open and close each tiny widow and drawer and reinsert the front facade of each dollhouse when it pulls out of its slot. It will almost certainly be a little girl who does not have to share her favorite belongings, but in the hands of the right little girl, however old she may be, this book will be a joy.

Meet the Author

Robyn Johnson's many years as a senior art director working on various high-profile fashion accounts served her in good stead in the writing and illustration of The Enchanted Dolls' House. But even more important were her two "wonderfully critical" daughters, Holly and Darcy, with whom she lives in Melbourne, Australia. She is currently finishing a second title about Albert and Lucinda's romance, The Enchanted Dolls' Wedding.

    a beautiful book

Done wonderfully but not for a young child, a artistically done book that makes pop up books great to have in your library.

This book is absolutely gorgeous, I couldn't recommend it more.

This book is absolutely gorgeous, I couldn't recommend it more. The illustrations, removeable items, pop outs (fans that unfold,, etc. Not to mention full page dollhouses!) are beautiful. It also teaches a lot of history as the magical dolls travel to different dollhouses which each come from a certain time period. While they are in each one they learn about the fashions, customs and such of the times.  This book is very high quality and would be fantastic for any young or youngish girl who likes history, dolls, or magic. Or make believe.
