The End Game will look at Sports from four quadrants. When properly executed these four quadrants will provide whole person development and a bridge to your success in all aspects of your life. The four quadrants are "The REason" we play sports and why sports exist, "The REsponsibility" of all parties involved and how and why they are charged to impact the development of those playing sports, "The REality" of a career in sports and "The REwards" that one should strive to achieve when participating in sports. Bo Porter's book The End Game will analyze what REal Excellence looks like and the results of those that master "The End Game". When you finish reading The End Game I hope you also gain a better understanding of how you, too, can give back and make a difference like Bo Porter has over the years.

Marquis “Bo” Porter is living proof that if given a bridge of opportunity, real excellence can be achieved. He is blessed with fortitude, a burning desire to attain high levels of achievement in all sectors of his life, and the work ethic it takes to accomplish and sustain success. As the Founder and President of Real Excellence Inc. Bo Porter embodies real excellence.
Bo Porter was born and raised in the heart of inner-city Newark, New Jersey, where he faced many obstacles and long odds of overcoming his environment and the circumstances surrounding his upbringing. Bo had tremendous family support, but circumstances outside of his control placed road blocks all around the trajectory of his future success. A true blessing from God in the form of a kind gesture from a neighborhood friend was the “hand up” and “bridge” that led to a world of opportunity for Bo. Once given that chance, Bo made the most of the opportunity and is now living the once unthinkable All-American dream.
Porter was an outstanding athlete while at Weequahic High School in New Jersey, reaching All-State status in baseball, football and basketball. He attended the University of Iowa, where he starred in baseball and football under legendary coach Hayden Fry, earning All-Big 10 honors in both sports and MVP honors on his football team during his senior year. While at University of Iowa, Porter earned his Bachelor’s degree in Communications Studies.
Porter was originally selected by the Cubs and went on to hit 113 home runs with 503 RBI and 236 stolen bases in 10 minor league seasons. During his professional playing career, Porter played in the Major Leagues as an outfielder for the Chicago Cubs, Oakland A’s and Texas Rangers.
He made his coaching debut in 2005 when he served as hitting coach for Class A Greensboro of the South Atlantic League. His first stint as a manager was when he skippered the Marlins’ Jamestown club of the New York-Penn League. He then served three seasons as third base coach and outfield/base running instructor with the Florida Marlins. Porter spent two seasons as third base coach for the Washington Nationals. He spent a season as third base coach and also as bench coach for the Arizona Diamondbacks. During the 2014 Major League Baseball season, he made his sports commentating debut with MLB NETWORK and 120 Sports as an Analyst for the 2014 Major League Baseball Playoffs and World Series.
