About the Author

David Harsanyi is an award-winning columnist and editorial board member at The Denver Post. He is the author of the book "Nanny State: How Food Fascists, Teetotaling Do-Gooders, Priggish Moralists, and other Boneheaded Bureaucrats are Turning America into a Nation of Children." In addition to his columns, David's writings on politics and culture have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, Reason, National Review, The Weekly Standard, The Christian Science Monitor, the Jerusalem Post, The Globe and Mail, The Hill and numerous other publications.

Harsanyi -- whose column focuses on politics, culture and the economy -- is, according to one critic, "willing to gore sacred cows on either side of the ideological fence." His column won six press association awards in 2007 (three for humor). His first book, "Nanny State," received praise from across the ideological spectrum. He presently is at work on a second book.

Before becoming a columnist, Harsanyi worked for more than a decade as an editor, reporter and producer at media outlets such as The Associated Press, the New York Daily News and Sports Illustrated online.

A New York native, Harsanyi is a regular guest on radio shows across the country and has appeared on CNN, Fox News, PBS, MSNBC, "NBC Nightly News" and "ABC World News." David blogs at www.DavidHarsanyi.com, Politics West and The Huffington Post. He lives in Denver with his wife and two daughters.
