Norbert Davis is a largeley forgotten pulp writer of crime fiction. His work was not only readable but much fun. While it might not be worthwhile to publish a tree-consuming hardcopy of Davis's work, this collection of three novels and two shorter pieces, three of the stories featuring the wacky master detective Doan and his formidable mutt Carstairs, is a great buy. I do find the selection of this sort of stuff for the "Essential Works" titles a bit pretentious, and the generic cover doesn't help. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
