If this is a Free Friday book then why is it not free this week for the nook color?

Lots of short pieces on many seasonal traditions. Includes a lot of Christmas stories and songs (although I'm not sure why Little Match Girl is in this - such a sad, depressing story). Great for trivia buffs. Nice internal links so you don't have to page through to get to sections, just tap in the table of contents. 317 pages.

I wanted to order this, but it wasn't free. Did Free Fridays become not free anymore?

Very fun book to read, and a lot to learn from within the pages. Traditions from many countries in the world are explored, and the songs, stories, and history from within the United States of celebrating Christmas are also written about. The influence of immigrants on the American Christmas experience is also written of, and I enjoyed that. I enjoyed the sections from stories like The Christmas Carol and Little Women, and I also found the stories very interesting of Santa Claus, St Nicholas, Father Christmas, Papa Noel, and other characters among different countries and their traditions. The book also shares recipes for traditional Christmas desserts, drinks, and other foods. I like how it really does seem to share "everything," just as it claims to in the title. The little details, such as the cost of different toys children have played with through American history, are just another thing that made me like this book. This is a long read, and it does have multiple facets to explore, and if you like that, you can take a great deal away from this book. It is fun, and I've greatly enjoyed reading it. It could be a book you could pick and choose sections to read from based on your interest at that time (reference) rather than simply reading straight through, but I did read it straight through and was very interested and impressed with all the details and how much I was learning.

I agree with the other reviewers: a FREE BOOK should be FREE! One star for falsly promising the book for free. Maybe the Free Friday was just for the sample chapter, but the blog indicated it was the whole thing.
