Decent book. My wife and I are thinking of crowdfunding an expansion to our specialty food business and we wanted to get up to speed quickly on crowdfunding. We are still researching things but found this book quite useful. Several others at our local B&N were helpful also. We are probably going to use Kickstarter for our site but have read that IndieGoGo is a good one too. Look for us soon - South American Teas

Disclaimer: I happen to know the author of this book so this review is probably a bit biased. Tom Young's book is written from the vantage point of a real crowdfunder. He has been involved with several crowdfunding projects and lectures on the topic frequently in the southern NH area.  If you are looking for a nice backgrounder on crowdfunding written by someone who has actually practiced the art not just interviewed people, this is a good one.  Highly recommended.

I want to crowdfund a film project and I bought 3 books on the subject to learn how to do it. While all three books had great content, I liked Young's book the best. His approach is almost academic, at least initially. He educates you about the history of fundraising and how the web now allows crowdfunding. Then he jumps into a survey of crowdfunding sites and how they work. This was helpful because I am new to all this. Then he gives you chapter after chapter of personal advice concerning ways to sucessfully run a crowdfunding campaign. I found these chapters the most valuable. The last chapters about selling shares via crowdfunding were less interesting but a lot of information is there. If you want a great backgrounder on crowdfunding, this book fits the bill.
