Meet the Author


Gretchen Scalpi, RD, CDN, CDE is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator with more than twenty-five years of experience as a nutrition counselor. She owns a private practice and works with clients with health issues mainly focusing on diabetes and pre-diabetes. In addition, Scalpi is a consultant for long-term care and has taught nutrition classes at two area colleges. She has served as a contributing reviewer for the sixth edition of Contemporary Nutrition, and is the author of The Everything Diabetes Cookbook, 2nd Edition. She currently serves as the President of the Mid-Hudson Dietetic Association.

Has your doctor diagnosed you with pre-diabetes? If your answer is yes then this is the book for you. You may not have any symptoms but you need to start managing your health more aggressively. I particularly liked the tip lists like "Great Ways To Get More Whole Grains". This included several different ways of getting more whole grains into your diet that were new and appealing to me. The book includes 200 recipes organized into thirteen sections including soups, meat, chicken and reduced carbohydrates and more. These recipes look delicious and my favorites include sweet potato pancakes, lentil soup with herbs and lemon and healthy onion rings. These recipes prove that you can eat well while improving your health. This is a great book for anyone who has pre-diabetes or who is overweight and worried about their health. The recipes will work not only for those who have been diagnosed with the condition but for family members as well.

Really! 10 bucks for nothing more than a handful of recipes i could have gotten off the web, and telling me to exercise. Sooo not worth the money. Expected more than this that is for sure. Pure garbage.
