A terrific guide, essentially a semester long study skills course presented in one coherent package. I especially like the author's introductory note that "success is being the best student you in particular can be," even or especially if that means a B. I see students at all levels benefiting from the book. The author, clearly passionate about her subject matter, provides strategic advice about how to create productive relationships with teachers, manage time, read a text and take notes, test preparation and test taking skills, writing essays from start to finish (including research), and advice about clubs and volunteering and on-line learning. I found this to be a smart, all in one book that will improve students' abilities and performance. Having taught and advised for a lot of years, I recommend.

Looking forward for school to start again after buying this book. We have 4 kids: 2 girls and 2 boys - pretty much every learning style and personality is represented under our roof and this book can easily be useful to each of our kids. For example, my daughter loved the beginning of chapter 3 "Class Selection" beginning: "Think of choosing your classes like shopping for clothes" That hooked her and she read the rest of the chapter. Our son, who is a procrastinator will benefit immensely from Chapter 5 - Time Management. Rather than me nagging him, he feels like he is in control of setting up a system for himself. He especially liked the idea of setting small goals and rewarding himself each time he fulfills them and working for smaller periods of time. I can't say enough good things about this practical book full of amazing nuggets of life changing wisdom.

Downloaded this free book. When I opened in on my nook. It asked for a credit card name and number. so... disappointed.
