This previously unreleased live date from the George Lewis band is a bit unusual in that the repertoire is mostly different than what the New Orleans musicians usually played, including such tunes as "Far Away Blues," "Linger Awhile," "Just a Gigolo," and "Lonesome and Sorry." The musicians (clarinetist Lewis, trumpeter Kid Howard, trombonist Jim Robinson, pianist Alton Purnell, banjoist Lawrence Marrero, bassist Alcide Pavageau, and drummer Joe Watkins) are in good form playing the ensemble-oriented music with plenty of spirit.
