Editorial Reviews

Katina Hernandez
“There are so many twists and turns in the story and the ending will leave you wanting more. Sorensen wrote a dark and intriguing book.”
Donna (Book Passion For Life)
"I was completely amazed by how Jessica Sorensen has created this story; she has not stuck to an original love story or original vampire's, werewolf's story but created a topic I never imagined reading about. Not only was this story interesting but it was captivating, intriguing, and mysterious, a lot of creativity has gone into it and I loved every minute of it."

I loved the books..I bought them for my Nook..But is it me..or were these book really REALLY short?! I read all 3 in a day! The first book was like 220 pages then the other two were only like 140 pages long! I hope I am not getting the short end of the stick here! I cant wait for the 4th book to come out this month though. Even though there were alot of typos (face it we all make them when typing) the books were very interesting. Even for a 25 year old mother of 2 like me lol! I loved getting wrapped up in love stories with a bit of twists and turns like this. It just wasnt a boy meets girl, they fall in love and then live happily ever after! To me, these books were page turners. Hope this helps!

The best part is how within a few pages you are sucked into the story! I stayed up WAY too late doing the `one more Chapter' thing till the wee hours of the morning. It hooks you from the first chapter. I am hooked on the series, and impatiently waiting for the spin off series to come out with some of the same characters, won’t mention who, as to not spoil it for people who may not have read any of them yet :) Great work Jessica, your one of my favorite authors! ( I read all in series 2 times now, just love them all) The Fallen Star is about a girl named Gemma who was not able to feel any emotions until recently. Gemma meets Alex and she feels different around him, and after meeting him she starts to piece to together information about her past and she finds out that the monsters that haunt her in her dreams are actually real. This book 1 of the Fallen Star series has a pretty good beginning. We can see that Gemma is troubled. There are some new classmates Aislin and Alex that seem to know things about Gemma, things, she doesn’t even know. Gemma can be pretty strong willed at times, as well as impulsive. But then, there are times we can see the mysteries surrounding her scare her. She will soon find out a shocking revelation about her life. This is a very creative story, love the fantasy and mysteries around it. Very well thought out, and easy to follow. I Love Jessica Sorensen’s writing style. She is amazing. I feel a part of Gemma’s world. And I love how this whole series is not like anything we have ever seen before. I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys the supernatural with some twist and turns, and suspense.

I almost didn't read the book due to all the bad revues. This book really wasn't bad, it has a good concept behind the authors idea. Sometimes it's a little slow or Gemma seems slow but seeing what she's going through it's a bit understanding. I would say give the book a chance and judge it for yourself. Give it several chapters before you put it down because the farther you go into the story the better it gets. But to understand Gemma you have to understand what her life has been like. Hope this review helps more to read the series.

I rate it five stars which i rarely do. Btw, there arnt "Spelling errors in every sentence" so quit exaggerating, you dumbutt. I cant cuss on here. Youre lucky i can't. Pretty darn lucky.

I have never met (read about) a stupider character than Gemma. Her obliviousness doesn't improve throughout the entire book and her incapability of filling in the blanks herself left me too frustrated to even finish the book. Before I even reached the halfway point of this I managed to figure out BY MYSELF the mystery of her mother and other problems that I will not disclaim in this review. The only reason I plan on finishing this book is because I always see an entire novel through, no matter how poorly developed the protagonist is. As far as I've read she hasn't matured and it seems to me her destiny will overwhelm her with her uderdeveloped skills or powers (if she even has any to begin with). Although her inability to improvise in deadly situations is closer to the truth of any real person's reactions, a reader expects a hero to arise to attack these obstacles and emerge from their journey stronger than they were before. Her complete and utter helplessness is what I believe makes this story line less than attractive. I sincerely hope she has a complete turn around at some point in this story because as a sixteen year old, I am not impressed with what I've read so far.

I really enjoyed the series. Although this could have been put together in just one book. Each book was about less than 200 pages. Also, tell me why I purchased all the books and then a week later they were all 99cents each or FREE? Not cool, barnesandnoble. About the book - very good story and I loved Laylen and Alex. I almost loved Gemma though. There wasn't enough time with the characters to feel like you know them. There were too many characters, in fact. There was a lot referencing to people and ways of life that the author didn't introduce to the reader and it made for a confusing read at times. I purchased the Lost Souls series, hoping that it's better.

Gemma can't feel emotion or remember any childhood memories. Being around the new boy, Alex, seems familiar but something seems up with him and his sister. The more she sees them the more she suspects Alex hates her, but she could never have been so wrong indeed. Having nightmares of yellow eyed monsters must be hard but when you are determined you are seeing them in real life you must be crazy. Too bad she can't find out with Alex suspicious of her every move. Before she knows it she is shoulder length in trouble. I'd hate to be told every fictional creature you have ever read about is real and that you are gonna have to hand over your life to them, yet when it turns down to it, everything rely's on a small purple necklace, too bad she doesn't know that. As her and Alex's relationship grows she learns new things about her past, yet she can't help but get frustrated that Alex has been taught to keep everything a secret. Taught that by the father he adores that 'could never do anything wrong'. Thats not a good sign when Gemma has to tell him she suspects its his father behind all the trouble. I can't help but want her to chose Laylen, the only friend she has ever had and the most caring vampire ever, at the same time as wishing Aislin would just confess she still loves him. You have gotta adore Nicholas's personality because its him that makes the book funny. No matter how much you want to scream in his face to stop playing Gemma, you can't help but be impressed by his determination to not change, no-matter how many beatings he gets from Alex and Laylen. :)

This was a great setup book to a bigger story. The main character Gemma is someone who you connect with right away. Once you start reading it is hard to put down. You get so much story in a short amount of time. When I was done I immediately picked up the next book to continue reading. With the character Alex you run the emotional roller coaster along with Gemma were you love him, then hate him, then love him again. This book was very good and I highly recommend the series.

This book was great! Very few errors, and well-written. There was a lot of suspense, and I loved watching the main character develop. There wasn't a lot of action, but this was the first book, so yeah. I liked the story idea and the plot, and all the characters themselves were fun to read about. Gemma, the main character, was perfect without seeming too perfect, and had little flaws in all the right places. I couldn't see any holes. Overall, this book was brilliantly written, and you should check it out.

Many reviewers note the lousy editing, the childish style and shallow characters. This one was actually the best of the four book series. Don't even get started. The rest of them are far worse and not worth spending your time. It's hard to believe these are "published" works.

I really enjoyed reading this book and i'm really excited for the rest of the series! Though I wasnt really happy about how the book ended in the middle of an important scene, but I guess that a good way to keep us wanting to read the next book immediately!!! Highly recommended if you're into supernatural/sci-fi.

Loved It!!! There’s really something strange about Gemma. She doesn’t have any friends, her grandparents whom she lives with don’t want anything to do to her and basically she doesn’t care about anything. She goes through life just existing until one day she passes a young man name Alex and gets the shock of her life when she experiences an emotion she’s never experienced before puppy love or sexual attraction. This would be nice if Gemma could put a sweet description to what she feels, but all she knows that she gets this sensation like electricity flowing through her body whenever Alex is around. And for the first time she begins to feel like normal girl, except she keeps having these nightmares that something in the woods is trying to kill her. Sorensen has concocted a truly interesting story filled with astrology, monsters and witchcraft, and just when you think you’ve figured it out, something happens to poor Gemma. I really liked the book and am looking forward to reading the second book in the series, “The Underworld.”

A 355 page free paranormal narrative story of a teenage high school girl who suddenly has her life change, and becomes involved in a world she didn't know existed and has no clue how to deal with. She basically is a malfunctioning helpless dork that has things happen to her and doesn't have a basic sense of self-preservation or reasoning power. Also, she seems to have vomiting, barfing, and gagging a lot on her mind, so I guess she does think of something. The girl is engaging in a basic way but so clueless otherwise. Teenage drama and angst to the nth power. Some romance with holding, touching, a little kissing, and a LOT of staring. Oh, and drama and angst........ Severe cliffhanger ending.
