Overview

Many feel bombarded by images and experiences of broken families. This is not how God intended families to be! So often we examine the traits of unhealthy families, but Gary Chapman paints a biblical portrait of what a loving, stable family looks like. This book is not just to be read, but experienced. Chapman details five timeless characteristics that create a healthy family environment:
  • A heart for service
  • Husbands and wives who relate intimately
  • Parents who guide their children
  • Children who obey and honor parents
  • Husbands who love and lead
In Dr. Chapman's own words, "What happens to your family does make a difference not only to you and your children, but to the thousands of young observers who are in search of a functional family."

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

"Chris Fabry gives another memorable performance of a relationship guide from Gary Chapman. With his understated emotional presence and seamless connection with the author's message, Fabry has the aura and pacing of the relaxed, articulate teacher the author happens to be. Chapman is a gifted storyteller whose down-to-earth wisdom on family life is based on Christian concepts of authority, obedience, love, and charity. In this realm, he is on the kind and gentle end of the spectrum. Chapman's lack of judgment, pretension, or intellectualization makes his discussion energizing and accessible. Using familiar but never syrupy examples, he describes every possible way we can put more into our family roles and motivate our family members to do the same."

    An Excellent Family Resource

Chapman promotes five essentials for a successful Christian family and very practical ways to build those essentials into your family. He includes several exercises that provide a tremendous boost in building the five essentials into your own family. I would highly recommend this book!
