Geronimo Stilton runs the local newspaper in Old Mouse City. Residents of Mouse City are excited that Paleo Pickax, the famous mouse explorer, is visiting their city. Paleo has made many important discoveries in the past and now he has found another: in the Land of Ice, he has seen a snow covered mountain that moves and walks! Everyone is shocked at the news. Paleo plans on returning to the Land of Ice to learn more. Geronimo, his sister, Thea, and their cousin, Benjamin, join Paleo on his journey. But the Land of Ice is extremely dangerous because of the Polar Clan, the white bears trained by Tiger Khan, chief of the mouse eating saber-toothed tigers. Once they reach the Land of Ice and begin their search for the moving mountain, they find a different discovery: the Polar Clan is near and following them. They narrowly escape from the enemy by skiing away only to encounter a new dilemma because they run right into the mystery mountain! What will they do? Will their enemies catch them? What is the real mystery to this mountain? Will they make it out of the Land of Ice? Children will be intrigued to find out what happens to Geronimo and his friends. The illustrations are fun and help the reader understand the story. The text is formatted to emphasize certain words using different colors and fonts that stand out, making for interesting reading. Children from second to fourth grade will enjoy reading this story and other stories about Geronimo. This book is part of the “Cavemice” series. Reviewer: Cathi I. White; Ages 7 to 10.
