    Not quite yo-yo dieting, modified fasting with two days on and five off might work. The recipes sound tasty and are broken down by calories from 100 to 500 per serving.

    Sweet Potato Fries (149 calories per serving) can be enjoyed any of the days (as can other included recipes).

The 5:2 diet as it is also called, will help to reduce inflammation and lower your risk for all types of diseases including diabetes, dementia, cardiovascular issues, obesity, neurological disorders, and more.     Mendocino Press' “The Fast Diet Cookbook” is a great introduction to the fasting diet. It provides a stockpile of information. Everything from health benefits, to shopping lists and meal plans are included. The recipes too, of course. There are also charts to help convert to low-calorie alternatives, and substitutions. There is also an appendix with helpful information to eat within the diet even when eating out.

If considering “intermittent fasting” for weight loss, this text will provide historical context, the science of it all — positive and negative — steps for success, and recipe chapters broken down calorically, all in a manner that is clear and easy to understand.     The Fast Diet Cookbook is an alternative to fad diets. Everyone should check with their doctors prior to starting any type of diet, especially diets that require fasting. For those who suffer from or have had any eating disorders or if you are pregnant, this book is not for you.
    There are charts and graphics in easy to understand terms that show you the benefits of eating certain foods. Recipe after recipe is delicious and you would never even realize that you are on a diet.
    The benefits of this book are a great investment, and will lead you down the path of losing weight and feeling healthier than one has in many years. A must have book

    This was pretty informative about the benefits of intermittent fasting, with easy ‘meal plans’ and healthy recipes for the two days a week that you fast to lose weight. I like that recipes are broken down by number of calories, up to 500 for fasting days, so you can decide if you want to splurge on just one thing or fill up on a bunch of different foods on those days. Decisions, decisions!

    The recipes here are super low-cal, really simple, and not bad tasting. If you’re going to attempt this approach, I suggest eating your meals slowly and drinking plenty of water; that will help stretch out the small portions. The best hint in the book: make your fasting days so full of activities you don’t have time to think about eating. You should also remind yourself of days filled with all the food you want!

    Even though it encourages the dieter to eat whatever they want on non diet days it does caution against binge eating on non-fast days. The best advice is for the dieter to learn to recognize the difference between hunger and cravings because cravings are rarely settled without major calorie intake.
    Listing food items that are acceptable, along with the cooking tips and the advice to avoid sampling while cooking because it adds calories are great additions to this diet book
    Three memorable notes : #1. Importance of goal setting, #2.Learning to eat when hungry and not because it is a certain time of day, #3. Don’t beat yourself up for cheating.

    A friend of mine who is in to competitive martial arts told me that he is on this diet, and that he really likes it.   He is in really good shape so I deiced to take him at his word.  So far this book has helped me to understand the ins and outs of slimming down.  While at the same time not leaving me feeling drained of energy.  I recommend this book to any who is looking to trim down, and not have to go through crazy systems to do it.

    I was skeptical when I saw the name of this diet, but it turns out it’s not about losing weight quickly, but about dieting through dramatically reducing calories two days per week. The diet is theoretically easy to maintain over a long period of time, since you’re not being asked to give up your favorite foods. Healthy eating is encouraged, of course, and it includes some good-looking recipes (categorized by calories per serving) that I look forward to trying out.

    Eat normally for five days, eat a fraction of that two days. Easy, right? Right on the cover, you see that the recipes are arranged by the number of calories they contain. Easy, right? With regular exercise, wholesome foods and calorie counting that's done for you, you will be the only thing holding you back from attaining your weight loss goals. Stacked to the nines with relevant information that will only make it easier. Very, very good.
