Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble

In this standalone Enemy series novel, DogNut, Coutney, Olivia, Al, and Felix continue their London search for lost friends and lovers. Like Higson's earlier teen novels, The Fear features individualized characters, a believable survivalist plot, and sudden spurts of danger. An adoirt dystopian novel.

From the Publisher
PRAISE FOR THE ENEMY

"The Enemy grabs you by the throat . . . and bites off your ear. It's kids versus zombies and no one is playing nice. The action--and boy, is there action--takes us through a London transformed by the unexplained illness that has turned every adult into a shuffling, drooling, kid-crunching machine. Bonus: zombie royals. Sheer fun."—Michael Grant, author of the Gone series

PRAISE FOR THE FEAR

"The third book in Higson's terrifying zombie series will continue to enthrall horror fans."—VOYA

PRAISE FOR THE ENEMY

"...the action is of the first order-Higson writes with a firestorm velocity that inspires to the sweeping reach of Stephen King's The Stand."ALA Booklist

PRAISE FOR THE DEAD

". . . Higson delivers an action-packed summer read."—Kirkus

VOYA - Jessica Miller
One year after the disaster that turned all adults into diseased cannibals, London's surviving kids have found ways to protect themselves from the Sickos. Micro-civilizations have been created in secured locations like the Tower of London and Buckingham Palace. Many still wonder, though, what may have happened to the siblings and friends that they were parted from on the route to safety. A group of ten kids, led by DogNut, a tough sixteen-year-old, decide to leave the relative security of their home at the Tower of London to seek out friends and siblings. The journey takes them through a dangerous path that leads them not only into deadly Sicko territory, but also into a struggle amongst the surviving groups of kids, fighting for power in the heart of London. Unfortunately, they discover that the Sickos are gaining new skills and have begun to work together and now, only the luckiest will survive. The third book in Higson's terrifying zombie series will continue to enthrall horror fans. Less adventurous readers, though, may want to ease into the genre with a less graphically violent world. Higson's readers soon learn that, while the action is non-stop and the world-building is well done, characters may be killed off at any time, so attachments are often cause for despair. Genre fans, though, will be happy to immerse themselves in a world where danger lurks around every corner, and gruesome, grisly deaths are frequent and heart-stopping. Reviewer: Jessica Miller

this book was amazing, i applaud Charlie Higson in his third successful
attempt at a zombie apocalyptic thriller. I was kept on the edge of my
seat as i read it, and i always found myself checking the previous books
for comparisons between storyline. But charlie, do me one favor and stop
killing off your amazing characters i'd appreciate it.

    Nom nom nom....

I always knew adults should eat their children. I love the way Higson brought his story full circle, and I can't wait to see what happens next.

Very "cleverer" than other works like Divergent and The Hunger Games. Ths book was mind-blowing. But, OH THE FEELS!!!!!!!! It was so hard not to get attached to the characters. And they all dropped like flies. I highly recommend this series. But only to those that can handle the sadness and gore. I can not wait for book 4

The book, The fear, is book 4 in the series the enemy. The book

The book, The fear, is book 4 in the series the enemy. The book series is about a group of kids in London trying to survive a zombie apocalypse. The disease effects everyone who is over 16 leaving kids to fend for themselves as little as 8 to babies. The main characters, Ed, Sam, Shadow man, and The Kid, all have different story lines that intercept each other to make the story full and complete.
Id rate this book a 4 out of 5 stars since it was a good read and made people want to turn each page to continue reading the book the fear which keeps you on the edge each page starting with action and finishing with action slowly winding down to the end of the series of the enemy
I’d recommend this book for teenagers since they could relate to the book easier since they’d be the one that actually survives in the apocalypse. Only three adults survive the other 2 eat young kids while the other leads the zombie apocalypse

This is an incredible book I would recommened to anyone. This book really makes you think and ask these questions: what if it really happened? Would I stay strong or freak out? Would I take charge? Would I have what it takes to survive? This series fuels my imagination. I am a shy bookworm, but inside I know I have what it takes to be a leader. This book helps my imagination transform me into an intelligent, quick, and skillful leader. This book lets me be free and express my true personality, one I only show my friends. It lets me stop hiding behind a book. It's an incredible feeling to let your true personality show. P.S to the people that think this series is just for girls, know that I'm a girl and I loved it.

I had this series in my wish list for several months before I finally purchased it, and it has been well worth the time and money. It is pretty intense and hard to put down. A page turner indeed.
