Researching? OR Got one, now what!?

I made the choice to read up on ferrets before bringing one home. I found this book to be extreamly informative and helpful. Since I have had my ferret I have used it as a reference on more than one occasion for help ferret poofing my home, what to look for as signs of illness and when to seek medical attention for my fuzzie. When I read the book it strongly recommending finding a veternarian that was well versed with ferrets, lining up emergency care for those just in case occassions (which only happen on a holiday weekend), and getting in touch with local shetlers, breeders, or clubs. All this information became invaluble to me one week after I brought my fuzzie home, when she had an allergic reaction, causing her head to swell so large that she could not see. I was greatful that I had done my homework and had all the information I needed handy. Joanna is one of the great joys in my life. =0)
