Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Greg M. Romaneck
March Madness refers to the intensity associated with the annual NCAA men's basketball tournament which culminates with the crowning of a national champion. Every year dozens of teams begin the NCAA tournament with fond hopes of achieving this noteworthy goal. In the end, after a grueling competition, only one victorious finalist team is crowned as the national champion. Over the years such amazing basketball players as Michael Jordan, Patrick Ewing, and Kareem Abdul Jabbar all have starred in this tournament. In The Final Four author Mary E. Schulte captures this passion and enthusiasm in book form and thereby tells the story of the NCAA tournament. In telling this story Schulte takes a look back at memorable games, great victories, tragic defeats, and oddball plays that all are part of the history of the NCAA tournament. Of particular interest are those individual snippets of basketball history that recount the efforts of coaches and players who have contributed to the greatness of March Madness. In the end, readers with any interest in sports will come away from this book motivated to take a look at next year's tournament to get a glimpse of the excitement that is captured in this illustrated work.
