Bellator is holding Marcus for ransom until Excalibur, the sword blessed by the Creator, is returned to him, but no one knows where the sword is located. I thoroughly enjoyed reading these to my tweens as we all like to snuggle up with a good book. The Thirteenth Unicorn and The Black Dragon were by far some of the best books I have read. Yes, I read them to my kids but only after reading them myself. This author has a unique gift of not only writing to the interest of an adult fantasy lover but he is able to keep it at a great reading level for kids from 8 to 80!!! I truly hope this author will continue this wonderful work with new stories!!

Good lord it was exciting and full of adventure! So many hilarious "magic words." Something that was mentioned near the end had me rolling with laughter! Do I recommend it? Absolutely! A brilliant series!

All 3 of the books in the Ben Alderman series were wonderful. As another fan wrote; They are perfect for anyone age 8 to 80. I am in my 50' s and I couldn't put the books down once I started reading them. As soon as I finished the first book I had to get the 2nd and then the 3rd. I only wish they were longer as I tend to read epic fantasy fiction novels involving a large amont of books in a series. You definitely have the skill and imagination for such a series! Kudos to you! PLEASE continue the series Mr Newman. The characters are wonderful and your stories are amazing. I' m a big fan!

But im only givimg it four stars because i didnt really like how itt ended (spoilef alert) I didnt like how the author had louise cut down the tree go Camelot even if a baby merkin tree did start to grow. It felt incomplete so i guess what im saying is that she needs to make another book if shes going to leave u with mixed emotions like that. U feel mad at louise for cutting down the tree and sad that they will never go back go camelot and confused about how casey and ben have grown more mature because it didnt tell aboug their lives at home. Then u feel kinda shocked when they just accept the fact about never voimg back. Tben a new merlin tree starts growing and u winder how ben is voing to keep it a secret from louise. Then the book enfs and it doesnt even say wether or not they ever go back. It kinda broke my heart because i absolutely love the series and idk it just was painful at the end. I DID like the rest of the book it was just the last couple of pages...
