Kirkus Reviews
Clever die-cut holes and playful scenes let readers and their fingers run away to the circus. Similar to Tullet's The Game of Finger Worms (2011), a hole close to an inch in diameter is cut from the center of each page allowing readers to slip their fingers through and become circus performers dubbed the "World-Famous Finger Worms." Childlike paintings in bold, flat colors depict trapeze artists, jugglers, clowns, lion tamers and musicians, all with "finger worms" for heads (a note on the back suggests drawing a smiley face on digits starring in the book). One of the cleverest spreads is the magician scene, in which fingers large and small can perform their own trick: "With a wave of the wand, the finger worms vanish...and then magically return!" With one sentence per spread, the text exhorts readers to become the ringmaster in tone and attitude. After a couple of demonstrations, little ones will enjoy taking over this big top with their own digits. Thumbs up! (Board book. 18 mos.-3)
