In The Fire Inside, Steve Delsohn got firefighters to candidly speak about their most dangerous job. They tell of the trauma of dealing with the victims of fire, the misery in the street, but the camaraderie they find with other firefighters. Fires and firefighters have fascinated people since the profession came around. In this book, The author has taken the time to get behind the scenes, and talk to the men and women who do the backbreaking, dirty work that is firefighting. In their own words they tell about the horrors and the joys that go along with this ever changing profession. I disliked the lack of organization in the book, but this was probably the intention. The book would probably be best read by adults, because of the sometimes vulgar and graphic language that is used in the book. This book is a must for every fire buff or anyone curious about this strange, but always rewarding job. I would rate this book a 4 out of 5.
