The First Prophet is book 1 of the Bishop Files.
I liked the story but it was confusing on who are the good guys and bad guys. Even with the first book read I am not totally sure of the answer.
I was expecting to see more of Bishop and gang in this book than we did see.
I liked the characters and thier journey they went through it should be interesting to see where the next two books reveal. Hopefully they will come out sooner than later.
This was my book of the month selection. Lots of drama, action as they try and figure out who is following Sarah Gallagher around, what do they want with her. They already burned her house down and she barely made it out alive.
Writer Tucker has been looking for a psychic for years to help him find someone. He really does not believe in them. In fact he has proved some were fakes. He arrives while her house is burning down and feels like he needs to watch over her when he finds out someone has been watching her and her house fire was arson.

As a fan of Kay Hooper's Bishop series, I'm not sure what I was expecting but this wasn't it. It wasn't her usual smooth read..like I had missed an earlier book. Even so, it doesn't disappoint. It takes a new direction from the Bishop books and takes the reader along with it. I will definitely read the next one in the series.

Loved the book! Some group is after psychics and it is not for good intentions! Can not wait for the next in the series.

In Hooper’s novel, Sarah Gallagher came out of a coma with psychic abilities she couldn’t control. They changed her life and ended her relationship and now someone is playing with her mind.
First her home is destroyed by fire—suspected arson no less—which draws novelist Tucker Mackenzie into her confidence. Together they seek answers and find a secret most would kill to protect.
An interesting addition to the A Bishop Files Novel series.

I am a big fan of Kay Hooper's Bishop books and couldn't wait to read this one. I wish I had just checked it out
at the library! Big disappointment....plot lacked cohesiveness, Bishop had a small walk-on role, and after
I finished the book I was left with the feeling of, "What just happened, why did I read this?" My time was wasted.

I was very disappointed with this book. I am a big fan of the Bishop series and have read most of Kay Hooper’s books. I found this one lacking, very scattered. pieces of a puzzle I am not sure I am interested in doing. The heroin was for the most part of the book very negative, I was thinking that maybe she deserved to die?!?! It reminded me of Iris Johansen’s book a little. If I had not been a fan of Ms Hooper, I would have stopped reading it and would not have bothered getting any of her other books. As I am a fan, I kept on reading. At the end of it I still don’t know who, why, what, where and I am not sure I want to know. Bishop’s involvement was also a disappointment. He is - briefly - in the book but does not seem to want to get involved while innocent people are killed and children taken. I think I would have prefer not to see him at all than to see him doing nothing except gathering info. . In the last pages I could get a glimpse of why I like Ms Hooper’s books. I won’t definitely buy the next one right away but wait to see it at the library!

I was so glad to see that there was going to be more along the line of the Bishop series or The Haven. It was a story that caught your interest right away. It will be interesting to see if there is going to be another story spinoff of this one especially with the Duran group and the things that they are planning to do. How will Bishop plan to defeat them?

What a terrible book. I have no idea who the characters were, even on the last page. It was all over the place, random, and made no attempt at any depth. If you are reading it for tge hopes of romance promised, buy something else. This should have been a short story at best, but really wouldn't recommend that. I rarely write reviews, but couldn't let someone else waste their money. Seriously.

The last two books by Kay Hooper have been very slow with little to recommend them to the reader. I am very disappointed.

By the numbers paranormal conspiracy "thriller". Strictly SyFy Channel quality. Would be fine in the $2 bin before a long flight, but don't waste a ten spot.

Hooper did it again. I really enjoyed this first book in a new series. Was hoping Bishop would play a larger part but looking forward to the next book.

I've been reading Kay Hooper for years but her books have become increasingly stilted to read. This one in particular felt that the entire book was staged and there was more repetition than I could make my way through. Is lipped to the end and was able to get most of the story without the pain of reading it through.
