Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
PreS-Gr 2—This straightforward retelling of the Genesis story covers the basics. Noah and his sons follow God's instructions to build an ark. He and his family get the animals onboard and care for them during the flood. When the waters subside, the animals leave to populate the Earth. Noah gives thanks to God, who sends the rainbow as a promise never to flood the world again. The illustrations of the patriarch's family and the numerous animals are pleasant but unexceptional. They are large and clear enough to share with a small group. With so many versions of the story readily available, including classics by Peter Spier (Doubleday, 1977) and Jerry Pinkney (NorthSouth, 2002), most public and school libraries can probably skip this one. Church libraries might want to add a copy for Sunday school or day-care storytimes.—Kathy Piehl, Minnesota State University, Mankato
